I loved american cheese -- until I discovered Cheddar, Swiss, Colby, Gouda, Brie, Edam, Provolone and pretty much any cheese with real flavor.I'd just peel off the wrapper and either bite the corners first, or just stuff the whole damn thing in my mouth.
Like them all. Favorite is probably havarti - plain cream havarti, not the flavored stuff, though it's fine. Straight-up hard goat cheese is also a top five.
