More Tags or Fewer?

I don't care about the number of tags, just that they are actually well used and expanded upon (and that scenes with more specific kinks are optional unless it is the core thing of the game). If it ends up mostly a laundry list of checkboxes checked for the sake of it, that sucks.

As long as their true, it's fine. Easier to find the type of game you're looking for if posts are more specific.

More tags are better, they help you find the games you want and avoid those you don't want.

I don't mind a lot of tags. But then again, I don't think I've looked at every tag there is either

most of those games that have lots of tags, have only 1 or 2 scenes about that tag, Which isn't fun.

The quantity is not very important, what matters is that they actually indicate what you will find in the game/vn. There are several content tags that are not actually in the games, and do not deliver what they promise.

Bad as it's only a handful that I care about and when there are many I have to look at a wall of text to find what I want (or don't want). But it's probably good if dev want to avoid surprises.

Tags are more helpful to exclude rather than include, so the more tags there are, the more likely you are to exclude a game based on that. I'm not someone that search games based on tags (most of the time), I'm usually rather download them as they get updated and I see for myself if I like the previews, then I look at the tags to see if I like/dislike them.

i mean, the more tags the better! more options is always a good thing. as long as they're that: options.

I agree that more is better, but only if, tags are really used in game and not only related to 1 event

I think that the problems with tags are much more a problem of tag importance, the worst thing is choosing a game by tag and seeing that there is only one scene of the tag you chose, it would be good if there was a caste system where it was separated into relevance based on how much of a certain tag appears in the game.

I use the filter to make sure it has vaginal sex and filter out tags I hate. Then skip all the cartoony ones.

I dont mind either way as long as the tags it uses are actually in the game if not then its just annoying.

This is a interesting topic for sure. In my opinion I prefer that a game has more tags but that opinion stands on the basis that tags are actually implemented and utilized to the fullest. However I think their is an argument to be made as to whether having a scene featuring a tag that lasts less that 5 seconds can be considered a proper implementation or a bait to catch a broader audience.

being thorough is good but if its just a throwaway 30second scene we dont need all the new tags for it imo

limit it to 20 anything more is too excessive get the main ponts and save the rest for the synopsis and previews

Lots of tags is good for completeness, but I think we need more context around them too, maybe in the standard template, to understand how major they are, if they are optional, etc.

This is very tag specific and varies by individual. Using everyone's favorite controversial tag as an example, NTR:
  • one person might be looking for NTR to be a big plot point, so your suggestion would work for them (not major, not tagged)
  • another person might not want it, but can cope with one short scene, so your suggestion would work (one small scene, no tag)
  • a third person might 100% want to avoid it, so your suggestion wouldn't work for them, as they don't get a warning with it in the tags.
You can apply the same logic to a whole load of other tags too, where some people are interested, some aren't bothered and some are vehemently against it.

Or not yet in at all, but "planned." Even worse is when it in the middle adds shit I hate like futa, blackmail, ntr, etc.

I think this comes back to tags = good BUT need context.

I don't want tags for things that aren't yet in game, save me the download, but a dev detailing planned tags would help everybody avoid getting invested in a game that suddenly takes a turn into something they really don't like.

We almost need a "tags for tags" feature, where a tag (e.g. Futa) can be tagged with its magnitude (e.g. lots, some, one), it's optionality (e.g. mandatory, avoidable, switched - for games that provide both a futa version of a scene/character and a female version), and whether it's current or planned. It's probably a lot of work to do such a thing (or would need a lot of nearly duplicate tags), but it's the only way I can think of where someone who wants a lot of a tag in game now, can use the same system as someone who wants to avoid even a hint of that same tag being included in a future release.
