That's why I try keeping any images and gifs I post in spoilers.

Even before the current president there was massive funding for domestic chip facilities, with current one we're likely to see tariffs on foreign chips soon (if promises are kept).

I mean, if promises are kept, the current administration will also gut the CHIPS act and do away with the funding for those facilities. But maybe the tech billionaires will keep that from happening, who knows?

Who knows the internet could be a wild west again in 5 years

This can go 2 ways: the tech billionaires end up becoming our new governments and rule the internet with an iron fist, making sites like this miraculous; Or we go through a massive collapse in global society and nobody cares to monitor the internet when they're just trying to survive whatever crisis is going on, allowing a wild west internet.

I recall reading some years ago that Beta was actually the superior technology, better fidelity, etc., but that VHS had better PR and more financial backing, or something to that effect. Basically, VHS was able to buy its way into the superior position and stayed there, until eventually being replaced by DVD. Speaking of, do you remember those big ass platters the preceded DVD? About the size of a 33rpm record? Can't remember what they were called and don't feel like searching right now. They were supposed to be a better tech at their time as well, but didn't make it for similar reasons. They remind me of the platters that were put on the Voyagers with info about Earth - may have been the same basic tech, but the platter wasn't made entirely of gold.

Don't forget the battle between DVD and HD discs.
