Unpopular opinion: If I have to play through 60min of your game to even get a hint of sexual content the game is trash

Do you prefer a slow build-up, or do you agree that games should kick things off faster?

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good story and world-building, but when a game spends hours on tutorials, exposition, or slow setups, it can be frustrating.

Personally, I think games should:
  • Jump into the "action" within the first 10–15 minutes. (after that can slow down again but theres just so much out there nowadays that you need to distinguish if its worth your time)
  • Introduce mechanics naturally as you play, rather than overwhelming players with long tutorials.
It’s fine to have a rich story or deep mechanics, but hooking players early is so important. Some of my favorite games grab you right away and keep you invested without making you sit through hours of setup.
What’s your take on this? Do you prefer a slow build-up, or do you agree that games should kick things off faster? I’d love to hear your thoughts and examples of games that do this well (or not so well).

Super Mario -> :eek:

I think it's a mix of both. I like slow burn, but there needs to be some form of sexual tension early even if you want to hold off full-blown sex for a while.

Summer Memories is a good example of what I mean. You can see sex and nudity in the first 10 minutes, but it'll take you 1-4 hours (depending on how slow you play) before you stick your dick into any one of a woman's holes. But the early flirting and teasing keeps you hooked, and you get to see people naked, masturbating and more early until you get to the sex.

That said, I am a sucker for a story where two people in love gradually fall in lust with each other and are increasingly daring the other to make the first step. Peak incest content writing there!

This obviously applies only to adult games. Super Mario, Hogwarts Legacy and Bloons TD are fine without any erotic content.
But even for adult games it's only a rule of thumb. It's true only because most porn games are of absolutely no interest at all as games. They are just vehicles for the sexual content with no gameplay loop that makes sense without it. Therefore making you work hard for a little erotic content is the equivalent of a feature film that turns out to be only a few minutes long, preceded by an hour of advertisements.
However, that does not apply to all adult games. An example for this is Town of Magic. This is a pretty good RPG even if all the erotic content were replaced by child-friendly substitutes. It does have some erotic content, which is why it is an adult game. You can't just offer it to children. (At least not in all cultures.) But there isn't enough erotic content to make haters of the RPG genre overlook the fact that it is first and foremost an RPG.

I agree for the most part. In my games I always get to the sex quick. With most, if not all games having multiple LI's, there's no reason the MC shouldn't be banging one of them early on to whet the player's appetite. You can actually do both things (fast start + slow burn) if you balance your characters correctly. Just as a general example: an incest game with three love interests (two sisters and mom.) Have one of the sisters into her brother right off the bat and wanting to jump his bones. Maybe the second sister will take more work, while breaking mom down will take the longest amount of time.

Yes I prefer some good action in the first 10-15 minutes. Gives you a taste of what ytou are going in to. I hate to read and grind for an hour or more, only to see some groping, night visits, voyeaurism and such.
If I want to read a book I will go to the library

Man do I disagree here. Unless I am very unfathomably horny do I ever have this take. I need a buildup or it just feels pointless, just go jerk off to porn atp

I play for the story, so i dont care much about the sexscenes. And as soon as a dick is involved i prefer avoidable sexscenes and story focus.

This is a matter of taxonomy, what you want is a porn game but an adult game in general may lean on other aspects to keep the player engaged. Obviously selling yourself as a porn game and then witholding scenes is going to cause dissatisfaction but if a game with adult themes can get through an hour of sexless gameplay without trying the patience of its audience then it is a success

It all depends on how captivating the story is, and what I am in the mood for. If I want a quick fap I will play some thing that is just one scene after the next, other wise I am happy with a good story.. Really enjoy the tension that builds from the teasing/flirting.

A slow build is fine but 60 mins is way to damn much, I don't expect full on action after the first couple of updates but I do hope to see some teases here and there.

Agreed. I FUCKING HATE slow burn and especially glacial burn (or NO burn) like some games have (AWAM, JOHN, Summer Story.) Blueballing sucks the festering cum out of a dead skunk's rotting dick. These go beyond blueballing into balls bursting. There should be actual jail time for blueballing in porn games.

Hmmm I like games with a sandbox feel to them. Games that have a slow build (no pen sex) but have huge rewards and replay-ability. These games include Daily lives of my country and summertime saga. I dont like having it all happen at once. I like the chase.

Slow burn = stop and delete. Sandbox can be ok IF it's a real sandbox/open world - not a bunch of locations but only 1 is the right one to go to to advance the story. That's just a pain in the ass. And if it has to be at a specific TIME it's the pain in the ass equivalent of a hemorrhoid spurting blood and pus. Sex scenes are the whole reason for playing these sort of games. Teasing is just frustrating and annoying.

And now I have a name of one to never, ever, ever under any circumstances download.

I don't mind waiting but the game either has to be damn good, really hot, or makes the time fly fast, I can't really name a game I'm willing to sit through for so long without gratification with the exception of Lessons In Love
