So that leaves me with the choice: abandon a once-loved VN or replay the damn thing grudgingly from the beginning, slowly starting to hate it.

On more occasions than I care to dwell on -- I have been faced with exactly that situation - and I usually end up hating it and dumping it before I get caught back up. I especially hate it when the Dev says its revamped and improved and forces you to start over.

other people have already explained it but to add to that, my account wasn't new but I had started making comments right before the rollback and everything I commented except my first comment was deleted and so was my profile picture, which I had uploaded after my first comment. so I think the site was basically just reverted to the state it was before

If anyone had made a new account during that time it probably *was* deleted, or unmade I guess.

Yeah I made an account during the period and came the next day and tried to sign in and nothing happened lol. My first thought was that I got banned my first day on the site and my account was voided, made the same account again and saw all the talk about the rollback I realized it was just part of the rollback not something I did. Could always blame it all on me anyway I guess, coincidences don't exit

Nice people reacted a bunch to my first message once I remade my account and gained back all I lost from the wipe, great people around here

Similar thing happened to me, and there were a couple of folks there right away offering to help. I had seen people talking about the community being kind to each other, but seeing it for yourself makes it so much more real. Very appreciative that it's like that here.
