Uff though to say. I feel nowadays there's quite a few high quality games with meaningful and enjoyable story, but also have beautiful renders and hot girls....
For now i would go with SSP i guess.

That game has quite a following. The best thing since sliced bread. And Ketzal's updates are generous.

Slight tangent, but same topic. Ive seen a lot of people give the soulslike genre tag to a lot of games that do not fit it, just because dark souls did something similar.

So what do you all consider Soulslike/soulsbourne? What makes the criteria?

The problem with both Such sharp pain (SSP) and Sisterly lust (SL), to me, is the lack of build up.
But you have to "work" more for the romances in SL, which leads to more investment from me, the player.
The problem is when quick fap stands in contrast to making a good and engaging VN.

I'm not sure how well known it is, but the short game "Tessa" from LunarBitStudio is pretty good (personal opinion) and I haven't seen it be talked about a lot. Granted it's relatively short

Saw a thread asking which popular games were overhyped and it got me wondering which games people thought genuinely deserved it. I mainly play games that are fairly new in development and random Japanese rpg games so the only games I believe are popular that I have an opinion on are Mist and Harem Hotel.

I thought Mist was good but lacking in character depth and development but enjoyed the story and gameplay. Harem Hotel I do believe deserves the praise it gets and I do love it personally.

I agree that MIST were one of the few "popular" games that realy stood out.
But i would also say Melody and Sunshine love really hit the mark for me. After i enjoyed those, all others seemed to pale in comparison.

Milfy City is complete, has animations, and good renders. It's a sandbox game that can get grindy.

One of the best I've ever played was Good Girl Gone Bad, lots of different routes and lots of fetishes to explore. The only problem is that it doesn't have animated scenes, but it's a very good game.
