Very true, there is a good reason why there is so many towns in USA called La Fayette. Marquis de la Fayette was a french noble that fought on the USA side with a group of french volunteers. Later, France give money and guns to the americans. Finally, they signed a formal alliance treaty and send an expeditionary corps commanded by Count of Rochambeau. The french support is generally considered decisive by historians to explain the victory.
