) the pellet-punctured corpses of the two I already got. Though, with all of the owls, 'coons and 'possums about, I doubt the corpses lasted long. Used the scooper to fling them to the fence line, so they're getting consumed by something, or becoming fertilizer for the foliage.

Mice are so destructive. I hate the little beasts.I still have the live trap out, and these guys seem to like peanut butter, but also ate the D-CON pellets regularly - AND LIVED! Turns out it's supposed to be slower acting so the rodents disassociate the painful deaths of their kin with where they got the food. Or something.
I gave them a couple weeks to opt for live capture, and it's still an option, but they haven't taken it. Have a new poison, too, and while the one that I know is still around didn't come out before I called it quits last night, I did see that he came out afterward and the poison block is gone. Might have dragged it somewhere, might have eaten it all on the spot, dunno. What I do know is that he got up on the kitchen counter, then onto the window sill, and grabbed a wine cork. Found it chewed on the floor. Also saw what I would call "mouse loose stools" - when you see them, they're usually these hard little pellets of poo but these were soft and smeared*, so I think the poison might be getting him. Just hope he shows up on the floor and not in a wall. I wouldn't open the wall, and the desiccation of the corpse should happen quickly enough, but there would likely be a good couple of weeks with varying degrees of aroma...
