One thing you could try if you want to insert some spicy scenes in the early game is a dream/fantasy scene, I've seen this used in quite a few games and IMO it works pretty well.

I have actually done something like that. There's a character at the beginning of the story that the MC could have sex with pretty quickly. This character is a bit of a throwaway character but I do have the option of bringing her back later down the line.
I've just given the MC a part-time job too, there will be a few more throw-away characters here that the player can choose to interact with or not without affecting the main story but gives the option of quick sex scenes.

I like to think a 60/40 porn to story ratio is pretty good when it comes to a solid porn game, but there can be exceptions depending on art-style or render quality. I tend to have different values when it comes to 2D games or JRPGM games though, in those cases I probably lean more to a 70/30 or even 80/20 ratio.

Story. If I want to see sex primarily, I'd just watch porn or read a short doujin.
People seeking VNs are here mostly for the characters and long term plot progression that opens up more scenes.

If the story sucks, no amount of sex is going to redeem it.
If sex sucks but story is good, you'll be perhaps able to get over it and stick around.

Agree, art is important.
If its poorly rendered I'm not interested.
Same if its overly grindy

Story. There is an endless amount of potn available but games let us become invested/attached to the characters. Obviously the story needs to lead to sexy time but the good ones keep you waiting for each update.

First post, long time on/off lurker.
I've been messing with Daz and Renpy for a while now and decided to try making my own VN.
It was going ok, learning a lot but my first attempt quickly turned into a fuck-fest with almost every scene ending up with the MC
having sex, which is fine but the story was minimal at best, made little sense and was all over the place...Ok, lesson learned, start over.

Now I've come up with a decent story, but there isn't a lot of sex scenes during the first few days as I try to establish the characters and move the story along at a decent pace. So I've gone from one extreme to the other...which brings me to my question..

Which is more important? A decent story or lot's of sex?
Another question I have is once you, as the MC, have had sex with a character are you still interested in having further sexual interactions with that character? or is it all about the first time?

I get that everyone will have their own preferences, just curious what the majority thinks.

There are plenty of porn games out there. Which on would you prefer? You have people hungry for both sides. I prefer story over sex. I love Killer7's My New Memories, which is heavily story focused. But I also love everything by Seath Blackheart. Two different dev's, two different styles. I think you should write the game/story that you want and let the people come to you. If you're good people will follow you. This is my humble opinion. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

I'm not sure it's good enough in it's current state.
Am I complicating the story too much?
Is there too much dialog between sex scenes or maybe just not enough sex?
General questions like that I guess.
I don't want to upload it and then somewhere down the line decide to scrap it and start again.

If you have to ask if there's too much dialogue between sex or if there isn't enough sex, the answer is almost certainly yes.

I think depending on the length of the "chapter" there should be at least 1 or 2 sex scenes. Maybe even three. IDK. But I still like a good story. There are alot of short games out there if you just want sex. i.e Daddy's little sex toy; Playtime [1.0] [LiriusArt].

When the story goes like 4+ updates and there's no actual sex (something not ending in "job."), the game sucks. If it goes years without it, anyone still playing has something wrong.
