Hi guys,
First post, long time on/off lurker.
I've been messing with Daz and Renpy for a while now and decided to try making my own VN.
It was going ok, learning a lot but my first attempt quickly turned into a fuck-fest with almost every scene ending up with the MC
having sex, which is fine but the story was minimal at best, made little sense and was all over the place...Ok, lesson learned, start over.

Now I've come up with a decent story, but there isn't a lot of sex scenes during the first few days as I try to establish the characters and move the story along at a decent pace. So I've gone from one extreme to the other...which brings me to my question..

Which is more important? A decent story or lot's of sex?
Another question I have is once you, as the MC, have had sex with a character are you still interested in having further sexual interactions with that character? or is it all about the first time?

I get that everyone will have their own preferences, just curious what the majority thinks.

Depends on what kind of game. You can have ones that have just enough story to make sense of all the sex (casual fapper/schlicker) and ones with engaging rich stories with sex along the way. Preference depends on my mood.

Assuming I like the (look of) the character, why wouldn't I want more? Unless it's the exact same interaction repeated, that gets old really fast.

It matters little, if you add an walkthrough option. That way the people who doesn't care about the story can skip it without the fear of missing content.

A lot of times i skiped the story and end up in a endgame because I made a wrong choice without even knowing what is going on lol

(It can also be easily fixed with a galery unlock)

When a new character is introduced and you can bang him/her within the first two minutes, it's kind of boring. I like it when you have to work a little bit for it and build a relationship with the character. It builds up tension and then finally feels like an accomplishment.

Quality over quantity for me.

Yes, but like @LewdSardin wrote before, switch the scenes up or else it gets boring.

I like when the story works up to great sex. Not a fap here and a gap there but the key is a great sex scene

Both. A Porn game should have both in equal amount.
And I prefer less sex and more story at the start. More sex and less story at the end.

That's kinda up to you. What's your goal here? Are you trying to make a fun sex romp without much getting in the way of the next scene? Or are you trying to write an engrossing story punctuated and enhanced by sex scenes?

Personally I think a lot of that depends on the writing. If you make me like the character beyond just her appearance, I'll still be interested in future scenes with her.

Of course it also helps if the scenes themselves are well executed.

If I wanted sex scene without context, I watched porn. The more heavy context they have, the better the scenes will be.

Story is much more compelling to me. Sex scenes on their own, I can watch any video or look up any image I want. Narrative and context is what makes a porn game so much more compelling (to be fair, I've found a few videos which had story to them that had me watching for more than just the porn).

I think alot of devs get this one wrong. The answer is - as you said - both. But heres the thing. It needs to be both AT THE SAME TIME.

You need to have constant build up and then climax. Devs need to treat it like a bonfire. You might at some points just have burning coal - and at other times have high flames - but u cant let the fire die out.

You will find alot of devs that get so caught up in telling their masterpiece of a story that they forget why people boot up their game to begin with.

Story. Sex is already plentiful (the number of porn sites is overwhelming). But games with a good story are rare, that's why you start to appreciate them.

I want a good story, however, you have to put enough action in there to keep me playing. In the end I am literally only playing the game to jerk off.

For me personally, Story and Gameplay, sex scenes in games are easily replacable with porn or hentais. Games with interesting story will stimulate my curiosity and gameplay will keep me engaged.
