ye and then when they get too much of it they go mental. and people never stop paying them, it's why most of them prefer patreon. you start checking out games and notice that it's been 6-7 months if not 3 years, with a bare mini of updates if at all yet the dev still making money. I refuse to believe that people are fucking stupid, it's better to thinkt hey forget to cancel their subs.If there were only a way to reward Devs who do what you like Oh wait !

It would have it's own flaws, but it'd maybe be better if instead of monthly patreon payments you just paid for each update (if you felt it was worth it). At least then they're only being paid for actually releasing work.ye and then when they get too much of it they go mental. and people never stop paying them, it's why most of them prefer patreon. you start checking out games and notice that it's been 6-7 months if not 3 years, with a bare mini of updates if at all yet the dev still making money. Meh. Maybe some do forget, and some hold out hope. I don't follow many people on Patreon, and none of them are for games. The ones I do follow, it's just because I want to show appreciation, and not because I'm expecting anything. Yeah, that might make me stupid.ye and then when they get too much of it they go mental. and people never stop paying them, it's why most of them prefer patreon. you start checking out games and notice that it's been 6-7 months if not 3 years, with a bare mini of updates if at all yet the dev still making money. Yeah it essentially works as a salary but publicly funded, but then also accountable to the public. You make good content, more people will pay your wages and more. you make bad content or slow, people will start to dropSystem like patreon were precisely invent so that artists can have a more regular income. There may be some people who abuse of the way those platform work, but that's a minority. Destroying the whole system which help financing creation and give some economic security to creators would then be a bad idea in my opinion.

I think it CAN be used as such, and generally agree with the sentiment you're describing. But there are other motivations for Patreon (and others). I can't speak to what others do, but I follow one person because I valued what they provided me in the past. Another couple because I want to encourage more from them. Neither are game creators, but I'm guessing that some patrons have a similar kind of feeling about game creators. I tend to like to pay for games, knowing what I'm paying for, and not pay as a subscription, and that's rare with this type of game/VN that has releases.Yeah it essentially works as a salary but publicly funded, but then also accountable to the public. I'm back. I didn't say bye because I thought I'd be gone for a couple of hours. Turned out to be more like 12 hours.
Anyway, hope you're all doing good!![]()
