I'm pretty surprised to see a HS game with no animations get such a high rating albeit from 5 reviews. Are the scenes really good enough to justify a lack of animation?

Believe it or not they need proof that they actually broke a law and simply existing as a ped0 or whatever or letting them chat/post about their likes and wants in a forum while watching loli porn clips isn't a crime you can get arrested for if you otherwise are not doing anything illegal (in the US it's due to a little thing called the First Amendment, as much as what sometimes gets said disgusts some people to no end). LE can't even get a subpoena for site visitor info (most are on TOR and/or a logless VPN anyway so it would be pointless regardless) since that requires probable cause. In the interest of self-preservation A T F doesn't allow bragging or similar about what you did in real life that also happens to be illegal, but that's a relatively recent rule (past few years) and wasn't always the case (pretty sure it was at least in part due to Mr. Double's obscenity conviction, though that was an over-the-top rare case).

I think you're confusing the scenes being so good they don't require animation, and the dev's ability to create animated scenes. there are tons of excellent Japanese VN's that don't have animation. Idk, I guess it's down to personal preference.

I'm not really into 2D content, more 3D, still little witch academy removed was a weird one. people found it strange that they remove it. not a single removed content was close to real life visuals so never really got the point. why some content is removed but others do not? some of 2D content on the site is fucked up yet remains. I suppose they remove content based on their feelings. if a game has too good of pictures or animations then it needs to be removed.

irrc it was what the host decided and gave an ultimatum, not anyone in charge here. And until self-hosting happens (which probably won't if it hasn't already) the site has to give the host a rimjob with a reach-around if they ask for one.

Host = the web service that gives this site space on their server, DDoS protection, etc. Sadly they have their own TOS's, that goes well beyond the obvious not allowing real C P and terrorism how-to advice. Apparently some things they will either ask LC to remove when reported or have their account terminated (with LC left offline until they get a new host). Bullshit like that is exactly why some sites and pretty much the entire darkweb mostly do their own hosting, so they can do whatever they want in peace, legal or not. There was a darkweb host of real C P sites that was compromised/busted by LE not long ago and by extension so was almost everyone they hosted (over 200 other sites), so even there it's best to self-host. With stories like that I'm really anticipating when distributed hosting is a thing so no one can be held legally responsible for what gets hosted other than the site owners themselves (think torrent, but in reverse with no single company hosting a site, just non-human-readable parts of sites), that will be a bright day for anti-censorship.

sounds like a big problem that isn't going away any time soon. and ye not going near any weird sites not to mention trying whatever the dark web is, enough problems in real life. not getting into trouble because I tried jerking off a game with my girlfriend while we laugh about it. we did try some video/pic face swap recently (which is apparently not very legal but we're not dumb enough to upload it somewhere) was fun for a couple of hours, then it got boring very fast like most things. the program itself wasn't very efficient anyway, it wouldn't work with any penis close to face maybe it's gay.

Indeed but the vast majority of Japanese VNs are drawn not made using a 3d model program known for it's animations so it's a totally different thing. Most would use Daz for a pure 3Dcg game but HS or the newer VAM is where devs go to get fancy with the animations.
I've also played many non-animated games I like so I was just curious.
