Oh, yeah they were raided by Fakku and other outlets because basically they uploaded non-fan translated content so they had to remove a tonne of stuff to avoid a lawsuit for theft of US held copyright. The site still has a tonne of good shit tho.
I don't mind it. I'd rather have nhentai at 60% power than at 0% power.

As for the language - look into the settings. As a last resort, use the translators built into your browsers. Somehow US users manage to register there.
As for the rest - there is both amateur and professional material. I prefer the professional stuff.
As for games (here we are mainly interested in games) - the absolute majority of them are Japanese projects. I ignore them because of aesthetic aversion.

I use adblockers, but the site still went to shit that with AI characters hosted there being spammed around, the WEIRD push for beta.sankaku which i hated, and now they try to shove AI pics made in the site to the search results.

2 search term limit without paying? That shit was 100% NOT there before. Good luck trying to find a specific image with just 2 terms. The site used to be nice. Not anymore.

Only ones I know of are this one, fuck95 and the one with the same initials as a US federal agency - that has moderation even worse than fuck95 where it comes to posting.

While not at the same level Rule34 does have a lot of good stuff. Mostly carry the same animations and stuff SC would host and they allow you to filter out AI to make the site less bloated if you want to with the exception of it not carrying anything "M+".
Gelbooru is still a solid site again if you filter out AI and they carry almost all categories but it has far less content than SC ever did.

Rule34 is good, but sadly it doesn't have any loli or extreme content. I never liked Gelbooru, don't know why. Just hope that SC will limit the AI content and solve the loading porblems.
