It's the site. It goes through these "slow" phases at times. It's giving me fits tonight and was one of the reasons I slowed way down a couple of days ago. I don't know if there's a hierarchy for what images/.gifs get priority, but, tonight, for example, postbits and signatures seem to be working normally, but most of the .gifs attached in messages are slow/jumpy for me, too.
