The "result" wasn't that bad, like, Daenerys getting mad was expected, Bran becoming king makes sense, yada yada, but they way it were told and developed is what was shit about it.
It's like they still had multiple seasons left, but squished it all together, cut a lot of stuff and overall made a awful job at telling the story.
Even if the books mantained the same plot points, it could be ok. However everyone is already spoiled about the ending, so it wouldn't be the same either way...

I remember years ago when the show came out, I would go home quickly to stream it as soon as it was up. Then I got hold of the books up to that point, I read them all. I enjoyed watching people reacting to major events. Then I realized we were catching up to the books and GRRM was kicking the can over and over. I stopped watching after s4 finale, knowing the last scene of s5 was gonna be what caught us up to the books (jon snow getting stabbed). I stayed strong for years, I avoided spoilers, memes, rants, videos like the plague. There was only so much I could do if I wanted to keep being online. Every now and then a meme would pop up. Eventually the series ended and everyone was angry. I kept the faith.

This year I was bored and tired of waiting, I started watching it. My sister caught me watching and knew of my struggle, she warned me.... "don't watch s8. stop at s7. trust". But the completionist in me had to. I should've listened. She approached my during s6 and laughed as I got angry at all the things that everyone else had already gotten angry and over for years. Then I got to s8.... It broke me.

I refuse to watch house of dragon.

I actually stopped watching at the end of s6.
My Sling subscription went up in price and removed all the premium channels I had for years.
So, GoT ended at s6 for me and I also cut the cable cord at the same time.
After seeing the online reaction of s7 & s8, i just decided to let myself end at s6.

But, my brother was a huge GoT fan, books bought and blu-rays collected. He was super pissed off.
Seems like I made the right choice...

I actually stopped watching at the end of s6.
My Sling subscription went up in price and removed all the premium channels I had for years.
So, GoT ended at s6 for me and I also cut the cable cord. at the same time.
After seeing the online reaction of s& s8, i just decided to let myself end at s6.

I'm hoping HotD doesn't become a dumpster fire. The first season was dope but the second season was weirdly paced so we'll see

As I was alreading reading the books, I didn't want to watch the show (and I didn't had time for that). And was a good idea, as the show missed a few things I'd like to see, like Lady Stoneheart and her followers.
