Actually Russian is hard as hell to learn! And even more for a Japanese. First time probably you have contact with a language with declensions. And the phonetic of Russian is super hard! It cost me a lot just to be able to properly say "hello" in Russian lmao.

Edit: I see a lot of confused reactions. Hello in Russian is Здравствуйте that is transliterated as "Zdravstvuyte" the "vstvu" and the proper sound of the vowels are not easy and more if the new speaker comes from a language that doesn't have these sounds or doesn't have a large number of consonants together like is the case of Japanese.

if I translate Japanese poems and old words to English they have no real meaning and some seem useless because of the lack of how it is translate.

Haiku are hard because of the lack of subcontext for a foreign who is not versed in the Japanese culture. But yeah, I know what you mean.

For example, Spanish also have many grammar use that English don't, so it is another thing that make this language hard for foreigners, like use of motion ect..

I speak both languages, and I don't understand what you mean with motion The difference between a Latin speaker learning English is both are Indoeuropean languages and they are not that far away one to the other. At the end UK and Spain are very close so their cultures are not that much different. But farther are the cultures and the language roots, the harder is to acquire the target language. I learned in 3 months a language of my same language-family, but I'm struggling with Japanese after almost 2 years studying the language.

I am not grammar expert and my writing is not so good but like I say, it is different structure and I can't explain because it is complicate and long discussion. Too long lol

I used to play a bunch Japanese games and VN, and I liked Illusion games before they changed. In old times, few year ago, Japanese games and VN were much better than lot of western ones I played. I didn't play a lot, just a few, and in many case I much prefer (even today) the Japanese because they are often perfectionist and the quality of pictures/videos is usually much better than not Japanese. Also, our stories often are situated around home life or schools, so, these can also be appealing. I seen some VN here in LC and some are decent but I feel some need more work, but to be honest I like visual and also decent story, not just fucking, which a lot I seen. Myself, I like loli VN so, this is also something that I prefer to see and these days there are get less of them round.

I have a bunch of games i bought directly in japanese from dlsite. I don't speak japanese so i use machine translation, but even like that i see the difference of quality. My experience with the japanese stuff is that there is the best and the worst. Some studios are really perfectionist and gameplay, art and plot are really good, like you say. Some just mass produce poor quality cheap VN for the local market (Japan is one of the lead consumer of porn, not just only a lead producer).

I was curious on a point of japanese if someone here want to answer. I have an interest in gender in multiple languages for obvious reasons. My native language french and also spanish that i learned a bit in school, are really, really gendered, like many latin base one (i mean it's fucked up that chair is considered feminine and desk is considered masculine, never see a pussy or a dick on any one of those). In english, there is a lot less: objects and concepts don't have gender for example which is a lot more rational in my opinion. How does it work in japanese? I'm into the impression that when i play japanese game with machine translation it has trouble to get the people gender right.

I think it's more than the payment companies. Because of the globalization, the culture of our world seems each time "less separate", and the west is really vocal about those things, so I'm afraid of even Japan surrendering to it, not because of laws, payment or whatever, but just by sheer pressure and shaming. It maybe won't be "extinct", but it seems it's getting rarer and rarer...
