Yesterday, I forgot to say goodbye to everyone; I was kicked off my computer in the most arrogant way
Today was a tough day at work; I had to deal with some heavy stuff. In a way, it was even fun. I had to set up some special equipment that I rarely work with, but I'm probably the only one on the team who understands it

It's kinda sad that whole Mary Anning thing tough- discovering, collecting, analyzing, and identifying all those fossils without recognition for her achievements (back then)- as a teenager, self-taught, without a University education.

I would like to think that at least within the fossil field she was always well known. I mean, I was massively into dinosaurs as a kid (weren't we all) and I'd heard of her. This was pre-Jurassic Park btw. Hopefully though now that things are moving on in those regards and women from history are starting to become more recognised for their contributions to both the arts and sciences, she will start to gain wider recognition.

AND I just learned the heart-breaking facts about "disc-rot", so... I guess, in the end, none of it matters.

This makes me think about how a lot of people seem to think that these days because of advances in modern technology that we are leaving a complete record of our age that future generations will be able to learn from and it makes me wonder about generations past who probably thought the same thing. I mean think about all the things that were carved into stone tablets that haven't survived till the present day and what is more durable than stone. What was lost when the Library of Alexandria burnt down. Not to mention other disasters such as volcanoes, earthquakes or fires that could have destroyed works of art or literature. Or even the various wars and book burnings etc....

Sorry that was probably a little much for a saturday evening. I just wonder sometimes at our hubris as a species I guess and how much of what we see around us will actually survive to future generations.

This makes me think about how a lot of people seem to think that these days because of advances in modern technology that we are leaving a complete record of our age that future generations will be able to learn from and it makes me wonder about generations past who probably thought the same thing. i am pretty sure that all such knowledge is being hoarded by the same parasites that hoard all resources. for uneducated plebs are easier to control. plus alot of tech (just look at games) are being designed more and more that when they stop supporting it you got nothing left. so they can resell something similar or same thing down the line again. The advantage computers + Internet have is that they distribute information to multiple places, as opposed to works that couldn't be copied or would take years to copy. Even a lot of written information from a few hundred years ago is still available now because making copies with the printing press meant some copy could survive long enough to be copied to new mediums.
