if you know AI, you know it’s not that simple. I’m tired of hearing, "But AI doesn’t create anything, it just steals art or photos", everything is way more complex than just copying and pasting, you don’t need to train AI on dogs to create cats. The cats might not be perfect, but they can be good enough for our standards, the Ai just needs to understand basic of biology books to give you results close to that, if you train them on humans, you can get better humans, if you train them on petite 100% legal girls from public posts on reddit? well, you got my point. Unfortunately, researching and discussing this is often a huge waste of time since even some staff members don’t care about these facts

I do know "ai," and the long and short of it is that these programs aren't actually ai, nor can they actually create anything. If I tell you to draw me an original fantasy creature or an alien, you could come up with something. But these programs, without having any "training sets" fed to them will output nothing. Because they're not ai, they're very complicated collage producing programs. They're amazing for what they are, don't get me wrong, but they're no more than that.

100% true, but we live in a "legal precedent" society, as well as a puritanical one.

Say, they invent an AI (or something else) that doesn't need ANY real images. Everything can be flawless photorealistic, with no real pictures. (I'm not a programmer. I'm spitballing here.) It... won't... fucking... matter.

Legal precedent will have been set. AI fucked for life (or for my life anyways). Because of puritanicals. As I've said above, cancel culture will pass, this won't.

That would be the true test for which is stronger, precedent or puritanism. As far as I'm aware, for the US at least, precedent protects depictions of fictional minors, at least at the federal level, so long as there was no usage of real minors in the production of the material. So, if there were an algorithm capable of producing a photorealistic image completely free of training sets, precedent argues for the protection of the output.

I do agree with the opinion that the puritanism would likely win out on that one though. Too many people have a difficult time separating fiction from reality.

That's a shame sequel would've been awesome. So many games just get abandoned- except the ones that you want to be abandoned.

Even bad that I'm not as fan I like that they continue. I hate when things don't have a conclusion...
Unless it's a rework that no one asked, if so, it's better if the dev abandon the ideia and go back to the original game!

Farscape was actually kind of underrated. Loved Chiana. Any reason you went with "Pilot". They never did give him a name, did they?

I think I went with Pilot just because I like his originality as a concept really. Very obviously not a rubber-forehead alien but also practical effects as opposed to cgi. Also found him to have a brilliant line in snark at times, often from completely out of left field. In reality I suppose I could've gone with any of the characters, they were all great so long as the writers knew how best to use them, and if any moment encapsulated the sort of genre subversiveness the show always had I can't think of any moment better than this.

I see your point, but IMHO your example is not completely exact. If I ask a person to draw a morkator slagius he will be unable, because he doesn't know what I mean with that. In the same way a human needs a previous experience or at least a proper definition, same comes with the so called AI. I think the major difference between human comprehension and AI one, is that humans don't only work by comparative, they are able to elaborate a response using an intellectual process. But it's surprising how advanced is already all this. It's just matter of time we see an AI able to pass every Turing test.
