OMG! These guys were great! They got away with a LOT more than "The State" and "The Kids in the Hall" Combined.

Dumb maybe but everyone's got to get paid. I think part of the reason we got the James McAvoy X-Men movies was because they needed to do something with the rights before they lapsed back to Marvel. I know there is an expiration date on these sort of deals where if you haven't done anything with them after a certain amount of time they return to the original IP holder.
I'm fairly certain money is why there was a period of time where it was looking like the Disney/Sony deal was going to fall through. I think it was sometime around the release of Far From Home if I remember right though I could be mistaken.

They're not really creating new things, they're more copy/pasting parts of existing images hundreds of times and outputting a very complex collage. So if the sample set has images of real underage people, the output contains at the very least pieces of images of underage people, even if it's heavily modified.
