Call me surprised every time a developer uses that excuses. Yet it works but doesn't fool anyone.

Just like when they use the step or landlord/land lady names.

I like it when games let you pick the relationship status of the stepfam/landlord/lady/whatever, and it shows there was clearly intent to have a much closer relationship in the game's programming (Town of Passion and Zombie's Retreat are good examples of this).

I think the goofiest replacement I've seen is Mist's "childhood best friend."

We can put the blame on moral crusaders who run payment processors, and Patreon.

Even subscribestar initiated new rules but didn't outright ban those games yet.
