About 15 years ago I had to communicate with porn producers in my country. All the clips are re-sounded, as the models are not able to articulate clearly during the filming process, and more often than not, instead of moans and oohs, coarse swearing is recorded. Professional actors are hired for voice-overs. And they need to pay money.
They are producers of traditional porn, and their money is fine. But what about the developer of a game or VN, especially if he has to hire, say, a coder from outside? Can he afford the services of voiceover professionals?

It has been my experience that the "sex sounds" in VNs are typically so bad they are like termites...they destroy wood. I have been muting my VNs/Games for years and I am just fine without it.

I feel like some developers don't know how to properly balance sound in their games so it can be extremely loud or you don't even notice them. Also some just use stock porn sounds, and I feel like the classic *plap plap* sounds get kinda old

its called being lazy.... they don't want to do it properly so that don't bother to theres a reason why all the top games have sounds despite what alot claim here... the fact is most people enjoy sound

sex sound might not even be great most of the time and depending where you live you either have headphone on or the game is muted so it wont matter anyway

whenever I heard sex sounds in Visual novel, they always ruined the mood for me. Because they used the same repetitive voice lines, the same for all the girls.

Because, apart from quality, most of them ONLY have sex sounds without any voice for dialogues during the game unlike Eroge.

yeah, i totally get that, but some devs choose music that it feels obnoxious or just lazy, like miel game, they all have the same fucking music and sound effects. At that point i mute the game myself

I usually find it distracting more than arousing. It can have its place in certain situations, but often it just seems ridiculous.

Me personally, I’m not always a fan of sex sounds. A lot of the time they’re really bad. Also I sometimes like to multitask, so I might be enjoying a game and then go on youtube and watch a funny video, so sometimes it’s a bit obnoxious to hear these noises in the back, especially if they’re not good.

Sex sounds tend to get repetitive and/or fake sounding, and rarely line up perfectly with the animations. It ends up breaking immersion rather than contributing to it. I don't think sex sounds in games is an inherently bad idea, but the amount of time and effort it would take to make them actually work probably isn't worth it for most developers.

It can be a net positive if they are varied and appropriate, but that is a lot more work than it sounds
