the degradation of porn tags

Thread owner
I don't play adult games long enough to notice a change, but long enough to notice the tags have much more games than should be, like you have 1 lesbian kiss in the whole game and is tagged as lesbian. It's annoying because you get fooled sometimes.
exactly why either a system like VNDB or at least a tiered system with primary and minor tags differentiated would be the way to go.
Honestly the NTR tags is the most annoying. It really does need to be made into its own 3 separate catagories, but at the same time are the people making the posts going to use those seperate tags?

NTR is prob the most offensive one as you always get the people under it "ew ntr" or "is it avoidable?" The 2nd one is more understandable but the first I gotta ask "why are you even here under a game with NTR in the tag if you hate NTR?"
too true, some people are just crazy and cant stand the thought that something that they aren't into exists. sometimes i peruse the comments at fapnation just to laugh at how mad the screechers get. see one penis in a game with ntr or futa sometimes even clearly in the title of the game and they're all "mmmmf and no fffffm you are gay, this game is gay, and i hope you all die" like bruh chill out lol.

i see this a lot when sites are trying to avoid being offensive.
i listen to a lot of audio erotica and if you touch a shoulder without asking for consent on the roleplay you have to put the RAPE tag in it, now when you try to find thigs with Actual Rape you cant find anything, most of the tags are "Rape to be safe"
tags like "Dubious consent" are forbidden because "if is not consent is rape" it makes it hard to find what you want

Easy to get people to look at your game when you just include all the tags

Broadly speaking, tiered or weighted tags would certainly improve readability, and possibly avoid "tag collector syndrome".
Other info I'd like to have :
- what's the story-to-sex ratio ?
- how long is the game ?
- how long until the first sex scene ?
- is it a slow burn or a fast burn ?

so true. theres a number of games that on the surface have perfect tags, amazing looking renders, but take 4 hour minimum to get any scenes and then once you get to the end of the content you find out there was like 7 in total for barely 1 scene per hour. something indicating whether or not you are gonna get blueballed by the game would amazing.

Slightly off topic, (and in jest) but I propose we eliminate the Abandonedtag, not because it's accurate and helpful, but we should hold devs to a 'finish what you started' standard. (Unless your game is crap, then you can abandon)

In more seriousness, I've stopped paying attention to the tags, I go off summary, preview pictures and if I get into a game and something I don't want comes up, but in general the game has been good, I'll just click skip it.

'ntr' is indeed the dumbest thing, but it's not about its use as a tag, it's just an extremely unfit-for-purpose loanword. Trying to stuff at least four or five things that are completely separate in Western conception into this one Japanese concept. I can't understand why people keep using it. I've seen multiple examples of fights breaking out over whether it's being used correctly, all of which could be avoided, and time and effort saved, if the person just said in English what they were referring to instead of using the term 'ntr'. That's achieving the exact opposite of what a loanword is meant to do.

For tagging itself, on blogs/forums without much user feedback, yeah, it's just SEO stuff to drive clicks. I more or less completely ignore tags on those places. For effninetyfive and here and places like that, there's a built-in tension where some people mainly use tags to avoid content they don't want, and some mainly use them to find content they do. imo this is why you end up with stuff like games getting the 'ntr' tag because MC's big sister's best friend once held hands with a guy etc. People demand the tag be added because they want a reminder to stay away. So people who want the shit cucked out of them find the tag's attached to a lot of stuff that doesn't interest them at all.

I think Monster girls should be split into at least two separate tags one of races like elves, goblins and orcs and another tag for kemonomimi i.e cat girls, dog girls etc

I guess when you're spoiled for choices, it makes all the choices feel less important.

I would be for something like # of scenes per tag? But then if it's 1 long scene that still wouldn't work.

The third type of monster girls are the ones that don't fit into the tags you're talking about. But yes, I agree with this!

I completely agree.
But the problem is way more complex than just tags.
Because of authors/devs going to jail for works of fiction (or art some might say), recent content is just impossibly blend.
So I would say I care less about the tags than about the absence of content.

Be sure to always put NTR even it is just hand holding the LI or else the the NTR haters will be mad like hell flame your thread.

I personally don't care too much about this. I rather have unified tags than 300.000 different tags. Most of the times is enough reading the description of the game to see subgenre it was referring.

For futa/trans to be included in the same tag, well, at the end 90% of the trans games have a woman model with a dick attached rather than a woman with some male reminiscences. Most of the real trans have still that male aura that is not present in games.

If a NTR game has the "stealing from others" thing rather than sharing, that is described properly in the game and most of the stealing games are not labeled as such. Many stealing have some narrative trick to just avoid people crying, like the husband's wife being in perpetual travel or the father, the few cases when he is present, being busy with any excuse.

Incest is a bit more annoying, but almost all the incest games have multiple incest relations. It can be a mess to have a game labeled with mother/father, sister/brother, aunt/uncle, cousin, step-sister/step-brother, roommate and so on. Single relation focused games are rare. At this point even roommate are undercover incest games XD

Saying that, a subtagging category may be the solution to content all parties. Like to go into NTR tag and be able to specify what kind of NTR but to be able to search anyway by the umbrella tag. The inconvenient, it maybe a mess to implement.

I always get annoyed when the game has group sex tag, but the best it has is a threesome.
Sure three is a group but in my opinion that doesn't constitute group sex.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Incest is such open thing, there is mom, sister and in some cases cousin if any of those are not your thing it would be nice to know before playing it

I think some of this has happened out of volume of games. If there 50 games, someone can play them all and add tags that are meaningful. But with 1000 games, it becomes more automated and fragmented which allows bad actors and inexperienced people misapply tags. It could be saved by having a tag voting scheme, something like MetaCritic sorting users and professional critics by using experienced mods adding tags and player up voting or down voting tags so that the main one are at the top with rare (in game) or incorrect tags get dropped.

It is true. Whatever you are searching for, it is much harder to find nowadays. But this is not limited for games or any random porn side. It is the same if you use a search engine for any random stuff.

The animated tag is always misleading. Some are just click frames and some are true animations. I wish they could be distinguished.

The incentive is to have as many tags as possible without being moderated. More tags means more visibility, even if they are barely relevant.
