As others have said the NOT modern stuff from both are good. Of course, DS9 was a poor rip off of Babylon 5 that got better as they moved on (B5 was better overall).

Sadly, we no longer have GOOD entertainment because the 'Message' is now more important than the story. So many good shows have been destroyed. Star Trek, Dr. Who, Star Wars, and now they are talking about 'Re-ooting' B5 and Battlestar Galactica. I fear that there will be no good shows left to enjoy and be a fan of.

Just a (sad) thought

Star Trek. Feels like crew people uses brains much better than lightsabers punching around.

I literally haven't been able to make it through one episode of anything Star Trek without being bored out of my mind and doing something else, the Star Wars movies are also kind of dog. Star Wars setting is dope though and I like other content about it, like the anime that came out was pretty cool.

BTW the original Star Wars is based on Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress."

Yeah, the "DS9 is a ripoff of B5" is a myth that still persists today... anyone who has seen both can see that there are at most inspirations, because both shows go completly different about their thing...
Not that I expected much considering the second part *shrug*

Star Trek on balance, but to be honest both series are kinda uninspiring right now.

Star trek original is the best, but I think the acolyte from Star Wars may change things for the franchise.

the fact that B5 is the fifth babylon station and B4 comes back to save B5 is totally not inspired by DS9 in fact they both started in 1993 says a lot. they were just congruent expressions of the universe manifesting at the same time

I like both for different reasons. Star Trek because of the syfy and star wars because of the laser swords

I'm a Star Wars fan but I think the original movies of both franchises are the best.

Which franchise do you prefer?
They are both dead and only live on as zombie franchises.

Star Wars peaked with Empire and every film after Jedi has been downhill, i do like the Star Trek TOS and films though. TNG hasn't aged all that well its far too 80s but the 60's show for some reason is almost timeless for me. Deep Space Nine was way ahead of its time, Enterprise was just getting good when it was cancelled.

Of the Star Wars prequels i think Phantom Menace is decent, and the last third of Revenge of the Sith is good. Attack of the Clones was the worst Star Wars film until the Rise of Skywalker. Honestly i don't even watch the Disney trilogy anymore, i can't even stand Force Awakens. I liked aspects of Last Jedi but disagree with the overall direction and tone and the freakin Casino subplot and Admiral purple hair , just garbage. The way the trilogy wasted Finn is almost criminal. Never mind killing Luke off for little to no payoff, it only would have worked if episode 9 was good. It wasn't. Writing Rey as a Mary Sue wasn't fair to the actress and they completely wasted the audiences time, money and expectations.

The trio of Harrison, Mark and Carrie should have been reunited on screen in a common purpose. Luke should have had a heroic moment, and been a wise teacher. Han shouldn't have regressed, Leia should have been chancellor of the New Republic not a general she was Princess Leia of Alderaan. Daughter of Queen Amidala/Padme Skywalker, and Anakin Skywalker.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn't like Empire. It's way too dark. Jedi was better. The 1-3 episodes sucked. and 7-9 were better, but not as good as 4 & 6. Star Trek only a few of the actors from TOS are still alive - only Captain Kirk, Sulu and Chekov I think, and are all around 90.

Shatner, Takei and Koenig yes they are the only ones left. Star Trek itself turns 60 in 2026 and Star Wars 50 in 2027. They aren't young franchises.

I actually fell asleep in the original Star Wars. The 1st release. Hey, I was 3. It was raining and we were on vacation at the shore. The place we stayed back then had no TV

At that age Return of the Jedi was a couple/few years past and the prequels about a decade away.

going to go with Starwars being more my fav, but star trek does have some really good movies/games/shows, kinda a pick your poison thing to me

At first i didn't really mind the two JJ reboots because they were in their own universe. Though Star Trek Beyond was boring and it bombed. He did destroy Star Wars though, and Kurtzman his protege has tried to ruin Star Trek. JJ's biggest mistake was making Luke a worthless maguffin and not a character. Hiring way past his prime Larry Kasdan to co-write who without Lucas couldn't write his way out of a wet paper bag. And worse they remade a New Hope with literal beat for beat shots, the only difference is Rey doesn't dive on Skywalker base in an X-wing and destroy it but the film was a bad remake anyway.

Hm, was thinking about it and I have ONE reason that Star Trek is better.

The Star Wars Christmas Special

Other than that HORRENDOUS thing I will stick with what I have said before. Both are good. Both have been destroyed by the modern releases.

Just a thought.

There was never a Star Wars TV series until stupid streaming services.

Star Trek and it's not even close...
