Any fans of old 16 bits games?

I'm a fan of turn-based RPGs, so I mostly go for old-school games. Though there have been a few good modern games here and there that help scratch that itch.

The Snes was my first good console. I had an Atari 2600 before it, but it was shitty AF. So, i have some passion for those games, like Secret of Mana, StarFox, Street Fighter II... For some it was the Megadrive the best. I think the console's wars is over with those, so... Any good games to talk about on those?
Final Fantasy II and III, really IV and VI. Also Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana. Lufia 1 and 2. Breath of Fire.

I've played all the other ones people have mentioned Street Fighter II, censored MKII, Starfox, but also Zelda 3 and Super Metroid. Also Contra III, and Super Castlevania. Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2. Super Double Dragon. Actraiser. Mario World, and Mario All Stars, Super Mario RPG. Mega Man X. TMNT TURTLES in Time. Super Star Wars trilogy.

I'm apparently in the vast minority here, being pro-Genesis. It may not have had the big final fantasies and CT and stuff, but it has a ton of hidden gems. Aladdin was also better on genesis :)

Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 1-3. If those were the only games I could ever play for the rest of my life, I'd still be happy.

I liked Out of this world, and Flashback as well. Genesis was great for Sonic and for Streets of Rage. But Phantasy Star II is all time great.

This is gonna be embarassing to admit, but i've never played a single RPG on genesis lol

I'd have to go with Final Fantasy 4. Loved that game so much.

But
Zelda a Link to the Past
and
Super Mario World
are also top contenders.

Battletoads was fun too!

Xmen 2 is unique among games I've played. As soon as you boot it up, it just throws you face first into the first level. No menu, start screen, nothing. Just a random character and go.

I am pretty basic, the only noteworthy games I played on the SNES were Mario games. Those games alone though are legendary and can carry the Nintendo consoles by themselves, even though there were many great releases on all the older consoles. (NES -> GameCube era, including the competitors.)

Not going to say greatest ever, but i did play Altered Beast, Golden Axe and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker as well as Rambo 3.

Atari 2600 was the only console I ever had.

Chrono Trigger is one of the best. We didn't had it in France so i played to it years later with emulator.
Hell yeah. CT is also one of my favorite games of all time, and honestly one of the few I actually managed to finish. It's probably been a big reason that I love sci-fi and time travel-themed games so much.

On the topic of 16-bit games I love, it's gotta be Suikoden 1 & 2 on PS1. Unfortunately never got to finish either, even with a walkthrough, but the story & 2D graphics of both were so mesmerizing.

For me, the 16 bit generation will always be defined by Cool Spot. A silly 2D platformer that's essentially one long commercial for a soft drink? Yes please!
That game had some great mechanics, though. One of the best platformers of its age, up until Mario64 really. That said, I mostly played on PC at the time, so not like I have too much comparison to work with.

old games were great, made by people that actually cared for the game instead of committees running after the new fad and checking boxes
you get some of those good old feelings with certain independent developers
