Do you play AI-made games?

i have one AI game on my watch list that I might try & every other one I've seen is on my ignore list

I'm not allergic to AI. Therefore, if there is a good plot and interesting gameplay, I enjoy playing such games. Everything else is pure scholasticism.

Honestly, I'd give one a shot if the story and gameplay are solid, AI visuals don't bother me as long as the dev puts real effort into the experience.

I honestly have no inherent issues with AI-made games, though I completely understand why people are skeptical. While a lot of them can definitely feel kind of weird, generic, or completely low-effort, there are definitely exceptions where the developer actually puts in the work. For an AI game to be genuinely good, the creator needs to have a very clear narrative vision and treat the AI as a tool rather than a replacement for actual effort.

If a developer uses AI to render high-quality visuals but heavily polishes the story, mechanics, and overall structure themselves, I’d absolutely be willing to give it a fair chance. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the final execution. If the passion and effort are visible behind the scenes, I don't mind supporting it, but I totally understand the hesitation when a project just feels like a lazy cash grab.

If it's there's an actual game inside, with good story and gameplay but distinct AI art, I'd be willing to try. That's really hard to find though, most of the AI rendered games I've seen look exactly like all the others, there's no artistic vision behind it.

It's a huge negative that will cause me to lean heavily against playing a game but if it somehow ends up being a decent game in the end then I'd still end up trying it. I think I'm more accepting if it's one of those sandbox games with character portraits if there are AI portrait placeholders or options while pure visual novels using AI have a much higher burden to overcome. If the story and characters are the selling point then that changes a lot.

I'm one of the devs behind Virtual Twilight, so take my answer with that bias. AI-generated art and AI-driven character interaction are different bets. I wouldn't expect anyone to pay on a promise that placeholder art will be replaced later; show what actually plays now, label the AI use plainly, and let people judge the writing and mechanics. The point above about story and distinct art matters: a pretty image isn't a game loop.

I have to play it, since other content appears much less frequently now, and most of it gets abandoned.

I agree with this. It’s good enough for the gaps between waiting on real stuff. Also ai images are getting better quickly so why not

I don't mind games that use AI for animations, as long as they aren't too overboard. I think AI actually animates hair pretty well for the most part, much better than some human made animations I've seen throughout the years.

As for games that heavily use AI, in regards to art or writing, I'll give them a try if they are rated highly. But, this is after I vet the reviews themselves as well. There are so many reactionaries skewing scores it's honestly hard at times to see someone actually talk about whether or not the damn game is any good. Unfortunately there are a lot of AI bros trying to tell me every slop title deserves 5 stars and needs to be enshrined in the Smithsonian.

Anyway, I've tried a couple like Serenia, and I really want to know what people actually see with this game. I got to Act 2 and kind of just bailed on it despite it actually opening up. Very typical AI art you can spot from a mile away and so little creativity with the characters. Pig girl literally named Piggy, Rabbit named Bun-bun, Jester called Jester, Deer girl called Fawn, Minotaur named Mino, etc. As well as obvious NTR troupes. So lazy I still remember it weeks after the fact! That's an accomplishment, I guess! The dungeon crawling is at least fine, inoffensive but not quite good either. Please, any fans of this game convince me to give it another chance. I don't understand how this is 5th highest rated title with this tag.

Starmaker Story is probably the only game I have played, heavily using AI I would call a good game, not perfect, but frankly good enough in spite of itself. Even if the H scenes are way too short, I enjoyed the visuals, story, and characters. Minigames are actually kind of fun for once. I would play an expanded version of the D&D game.

And since we are here anyway, please give me some suggestions on other titles to try that heavily use AI. I'm on the fence, and maybe a good game would convince me otherwise from being an outright hater.

AI games can, in theory, be good. If you look at some games, like those by voidsquad, you can see that they put in some effort to keep the images looking consistent and not overly slop-y. However, because AI is significantly easier to use than making actual art, there are tons of AI games that are kinda just vomited out without serious effort. Because of this, I see AI not as a disqualification for a game, but for sure a negative that I need to see some sort of evidence that it is not shit.

some but most cant keep a character the same and it breaks the immersion
As far as I am aware, I've only played one game where the characters were made by AI. To be honest i didn't notice it, but i have used AI to generate images of my own and I do notice it is very difficult to keep characters consistent. It makes sense that I see discussion on that games discord about which models they are using and how they train them

For the most part, don't really play AI games. Only use of it that I thought was somewhat interesting was Snapshot, where each photo is AI, which was kinda fine since they're lots of possible photos
