As much as I hate Ai as a thing in our society, and wish it had just never become a thing, I really kind of enjoy Ai videos assets and images. It can definitely be done pretty well. I think the biggest problems in these Ai slop games when the writing and plot structure are all slop done by Ai. Also it seems like the structure of Ai games are simultaneously generic and a broken hot mess that are so illogical in structure.

I think that's more of a general "lazy people" problem and less of an "AI" problem.

As I said earlier in the thread: most of the VNs created by small indie developers are carbon copies of each other, they use HS or DAZ presets that are barely different from each other, they use asset packs for environments so you end up with dozens to hundreds of games that all have the exact same locations, they barely have what could be called "writing" and rely too much on "tropes" when it comes to both character design and dialogue...

The reality is most games suck because the people making them aren't talented and lack the creativity/vision to make something good. It's no different than sports, if 100 people all pick up the game of golf and you look at their progress 5 years later most of them are going to be very average, some will be below/above average, and a handful will be awful/amazing. That's just how it goes, and I agree AI doesn't HELP that when it enables more people to create things, but it doesn't fundamentally change anything either.

The way I look at it is this: sure, there might be even more crappy, low effort games, but those are easily spotted and avoided. However, there will ALSO be a handful of people (and I like to think I'm one of them) who didn't previously have the time, money or other resources to create their vision who with AI actually WILL be able to make amazing games.

I think that's a good trade even if it's only a handful of new excellent games that otherwise would never have been created.

Ehhh I find it pretty awful. I'm not against AI when it helps humanity but not when it replaces humans (also it's pretty bad looking)

Well, the thing is it doesn't *really* replace humans, at least not any more than any significant advance in technology does. If you look back through history, every single major innovation has eliminated jobs, but then those jobs were ultimately replaced by new jobs that were enabled/created by the innovation and ultimately the net result was actually MORE jobs and not less. I can give you examples if you want, but the point is that the situation with AI isn't much different.

You've already seen that non-creative/lazy people using AI don't suddenly make "amazing" games right? So developers and artists aren't in danger of "losing" anything. Now, what *IS* going to happen is that anyone not utilizing the tools available is going to get left behind or replaced by OTHER creative people who are willing to change with the times. That's how every industry (especially creative ones) have ALWAYS worked, and it's a simple fact of life that you can't halt progress and if you try to push back against it you will ultimately lose.

People can dislike AI and what it represents, but AI isn't conscious, it is just a tool and frankly most of the "anti-AI" people are just virtue signaling hypocrites who fail to see all the things already in the VN community that are essentially no different than using AI. I have pointed this out a few times: but how is using asset packs and HS models/animations any different than using AI? Does anyone honestly think using HS is *more* work than using AI? Because if I'm being honest, that's utter nonsense, using AI and getting a good result is FAR more difficult than using HS or KK, but no one is screaming from the rooftops about banning those.

I am a pragmatic/logical person, and the simple fact is that AI isn't going away, and instead of people demonizing it they should instead be investing their time in promoting ethical use of AI and promoting learning/understanding of what it is (and isn't).
