You know that poll that pops up now and again on various games that asks whether you prefer small updates released frequently or large updates released after several months?
Well, this is why smaller but more frequent updates work better. A regular release cycle is a good habit to fall into. Not saying the other option is bad and can't be done - A Family Venture springs to mind - kudos to them for doing it successfully, just that it is more risky if the devs don't have a good work ethic.

Heh, heh. I was generalising. But I stand by my point - establish a good work ethic. Give yourself timelines - some disclosed publicly, some for yourself - and try to stick to them as much as possible.

Yeah. I joined him on Subscribestar a few years back, but after a while came to realize that he was mostly making unfulfilled promises or tons of excuses for the delays. This dev had a good game but I think he intentionally used it to milk his supporters.

Well they aren't wrong about SJWS. Though it's not a time or date given to their patrons about how soon the update is. I wouldn't have worded it that way though.

The practice they are talking about is not smart in a business sense. Adult visual novels and AAA games are not in the same space or follow the same rules. Same pipelines. Being angry with the virtue signalers and keyboard feminists, I get it. Especially the complaints over the male gaze in games. Making characters ugly on purpose. games being propaganda for a certain kind of protected speech, but all on one side.

Still it's quite like George RR Martin never putting out his book, and having the audacity to talk about politics and gaming. Though I'm not a fan and they aren't nearly in the same orbit.
Telling large studios to not spend money to promote their game, would be like telling people who want to advertise a movies release not to, and in 2026 hope on word of mouth. I know it's laughable. I argue against the shills and access media for years. It's also how the industry works. Let's see Sir Dammed change the paradigm, when they can't even get a release out.

I'd actually like to talk about the game and not its release schedule, the story and character's other than Maddy I've forgotten the entire game. It's been so darn long.

I've been a long fan but I can't patronize this or any other game. I don't like the monthly subscription-based model for obvious reasons. Few devs tow the mark, and have a every couple of months an on-time release. Everyone seems to think they are an artiste. And are Gandalf and arrive precisely when they mean too.

You're setting your sights way too low. I make $6000 a night slinging ramen near a college town during the week: $15 for ramen, $5 for drinks & add-on's (premium ingredients) * 300 bowls of ramen=$6000. Those ingredients cost me -maybe- $3 a bowl.

After payroll, taxes & utilities (I own the ramen shop and the land), I still clear quite a bit.

Heh, Pho is nearly $20 around here. Everyone east Asian likes to overcharge the college kids because the broke ones use the employee discount & the rich ones spend mommy & daddy's money and don't care that the $2 bottle of Pocari Sweat I pay cost them $6 . It all works out.

Besides, some of that ramen money goes right back into the college anyway - my 6 six kids went from working the ramen shop to working at the college to get the discounted tuition.
