Though I'm no fan of pineapple on pizza, I think it is a tad peculiar that we in the western world single out pineapple as such a divisive (and generally hated) pizza topping, when innovative and celebrated chefs across America, Europe and Asia are lauded for putting far more niche ingredients on their dough. Grilled peaches, blue potato, chicken combs... hell, anchovies have been placed on pizza for years with little-to-no objection. The original Roman pizza was topped with figs, honey and halloumi. Who's to say what's "normal"?
