I REALLY dislike 3DCG and don't understand it. well... except for like Koikatsu and stuff like it, because then I'm out of the uncanny valley of looking at characters that REALLY don't look like people, trying to look like people. DAZ is the absolute worst at this, everything using that ends up looking horrid.

Maybe it's an effort thing, where some 3DCG stuff will just look good when enough effort is put in, but most won't do that because it's just porn games and those won't pay well, and that's fair I guess.

Uncanny valley hits me real hard. If it's supposed to look realistic, but doesn't quite get there, I can't NOT notice and it bothers me more than any enjoyment I could possibly get out of the game.

That said, some people don't mind or even prefer that type of artstyle or model, and those are the ones that play.

When it comes to porngames, story themes and writing are what pull you in and immerse you. Throw in decent visuals, and there aren’t all that many games left that click with me. Solid gameplay is a huge plus, but sometimes your options are just slim pickings.

I think you definitely hit the nail on the head there. Yes, there are absolutely people who enjoy the 3D art style, or at least find it tolerable(myself in that category), but I think it really is similar to a comment someone else made near the top of the thread about COD and yearly sports games. This forum is full of people who are more interested in porn games that the average person, the same way that any Reddit thread about COD is going to be full of people who are more interested in video games than the average person. It all comes down to exposure and familiarity.

As someone who's played a shit ton of video games, I don't play COD because I'm either bored of what they offer or can think of a game that does what they offer better. The average person who plays COD probably doesn't play a ton of games, same with sports titles. Similarly, a lot of people who play generic, middle-of-the-road 3D porn games probably don't play a lot of porn games. Taste is built from familiarity and for people who only dip their toes into the genre that a lot of us are passionate about, they're satisfied with something more generic because to them, it's still a unique experience.

I'm not 100% sure of this: but I think at some point you think "will there be something on the other side"? Just like after playing many eroges I asked myself "will there be 3D games?" and started researching the category.

Never played any of them btw for the reasons specified in the thread. The only one I played was called something like "The Angel and the Ecchi Family" (don't remember the full name), but at that time I had not delved into the genre and the aesthetics did not seem repulsive to me at first sight. Also loli.

probably cause people really just finally want a good realistic 3d game but I agree, I hate those 3d unreal engine graphic slop games

Really no idea why some people seem to like it. I have tried to play a few games but it feels so weird I always end up deleting the game less than 5min in.
