I don't think you have to be on Maddie's love path for the VIP scene, lust path is ok too. So you can peek on her in the bathroom. But Scuffed is correct that there is a sex scene you only get if you are on Love/Love with April/Maddie, but that was in update 4.1 I think, the night after the spanking.
