What's the deal with games sharing locations/models? Does it bother you?

I started creating my own environments recently because I started noticing that too many games were using the same environments and models. I I like to think I stand out.

This feels like a key point even more than models, the same changing room etc.

Yeah, it's become a major pet peeve of mine. It's gotten to the point where if I see the Haven Park or Land Cruiser asset in a game I just check out.

I've seen the park pictured above in 5 or 6 different games. It's the background that came to mind when I found this thread. it doesn't bother me too much, but some Daz models are used way too much and that can be distracting.
No Way Wow GIF by NBA

i don't see it as a issues for models its basically a cameo to other games which is fun to see but locations get annoying when everyone uses the la blaunc attic or that once lounge room

it doesn't bother me too much so long as the game is well written

It's not great but it's not a deal breaker either. As long as it's something I haven't seen before whether that's a unique sex scene or good writing, I'm fine with it.

I'm so tired of that fucking bathroom that's in every other game

i think its very cool that devs share assets i think it shows a kind of comunity

I'm good with it. It's not like it doesn't happen in real life...

i hardly notice tbh. if the story is well written, it doesnt ruin my immersion

It doesn't bother me. Familiarity with the layout of the usual apartments/buildings helps me keep my orientation during a scene with a bunch of camera angle changes.

I've seen that one indoor pool in those renpy games multiple times, and it reminds me of other games I've played.

I've honestly only noticed it a couple of times, and I find it sort of comes off as thematic for the genre.

There is always that one generic dude model that haunts every single Daz3d game

I don't particularly care. I try to focus on the scene or the story playing out.

i think it is a much more noticeable issue if you have ever tried making a game yourself........ you will see many of the assets as you pan through what free ones you have available to yourself and get so much deja vú your brain will have an aneurysm after the five hundredth time you say "hey i recognize this place from somewhere"

i do not have much resentment to it for things such as cars and the like because we see many of the same cars every day in our real lives so that is possible........ but environments....... and sometimes even characters....... oh my gosh! i can not believe i have seen so many of the same characters........ i will be in the middle of a scene thinking this girl reminds me of someone as i am virtually fourteen inches deep inside her (average penis size of the harem protagonist) and realize i have seen her in multiple other titles, i almost feel offended they do not recognize me at this point :ROFLMAO:

it is bad in DAZ for certain, with koikatsu based games you will see many of the same environments but at the least the characters will be different many of the times.
