complicated systems put in forceful to make the game "unique"

When the developer changes direction to cater to the highest bidder, abandoning the "vision" they had to start with!

When you have to follow a walkthrough exactly or you'll miss loads of content. Stuff like "oh you did not do this specific thing? well you just missed a whole arch and changed the ending/missed loads of content. my life: revamp is the best example of this.

The endless grind. I wont want to read a novel if I to had read the same page over and over again.

Mid game art changes, ages a go I was playing a game I like, can’t recall which one, becoz blur… and it went from hand drawn to AI art. Jarring! Especially when early AI seemed to be half a dozen or so model “looks” ….

defiantly grindy mechanics or open world/sandbox that open up to quickly and get overwhelming on what to do and you worry what you're missing out on

Games that are very buggy and poorly made or pad out game time with a lot of grind (resource management, ridiculous sandbox, RPGM battles, etc.)

Unintuitive puzzles and minigames. The kinds of things that annoy you, because they absolutely kill the pacing, but also make you kind of sad, because they're clearly something the dev is passionate about enough to include in their video game, but are just inelegant enough to irritate. That and power fantasy MCs. For the love of god, make an interesting character for once, I beg you.

Whenever there is no good plot development for why girls hop on an MCs dick, when they just start bouncing on it crazy style it turns me off of it, like let there be at least a little build up before the hanky panky

Confusing sandbox is number 1 for me.

Grind of course but even worse is excessive traveling for no reason. This is usually for rpgm games but even 3d ones where you have to ferry back and forth from location to location. drives me crazy

I'll stop playing when the game gets excessively long. Some of these games go on for way too many different arcs, like anime. I like games that come to a conclusion when they should, instead of dragging on

A very specific instance, but I fell off The Roommate when the developer began catering to the highest paying patrons and moved away from having the main female LI being the sweet 'girl next door' type to the current arc the story is on.

The other is when the story begins to fall apart. Not necessarily bad writing, I can forgive laziness or grammatical errors. But when the total suspension of disbelief falls away and the characters begin to behave completely opposite of how other characters would normally behave tends to ruin a good game or VN. Or when the MC begins to act contradictory to all preestablished ways the MC acts. Really ruins a story, especially a self-insert one.

Quests and leveling up. It gets tedious along the way, especially if you just wanna get to the good stuff
