I can't do RPGMaker games. It's just so tedious to walk around the large barren open spaces.
I also am generally not a fan of games that make you manage your time throughout the day with energy meters and such or when you have to do a certain action on a certain day in the game or else miss out on something completely.
Writing. Yes, I know they introduce more characters so you can fuck 'em. But it really grinds my gears if the devs just add said characters to fulfill a trope/ scenario.
One-dimensional characterization is what ends the game for me.
When the text is obviously AI slop and makes no sense, when there are dumb minigames that are more difficult than that one mission on GTA Vice City (you know the one), when it jumps timelines/points of view way too often, when it has a lot of fantastical creatures in it.
I mentioned this in another thread, but an obnoxious number of typos or grammatical errors really throw me out of a story. I feel like I try to be patient with games that are obviously translated or don't have the story as the main focus, but I usually have to dip out if I'm actively confused about what a particular sentence is trying to communicate.
in Sand box type games, if they require hours of just repeating the same task over and over, im good on that. Also when they try to get political, keep it out the games.
This is a small one, but extra images hidden by clicking on the screen in a certain spot, when it's very hard to see it. Kinda takes me out of the story, and just makes focus on only getting the collectibles.
I don't like very slow burns and very extensive lores given without some action in between. It could be a great story but I'm here to experience horny.
I dont mind there being some grind, so long as the grind can happen alongside the continuation of the story or otherwise allow you to experience slight variations in the content that comes along with the grind.
As for direction, any game that leaves what to do next completely without any directional queues or any meaningful guidance ..i hate because you can never tell if the gameplay is over, unfinished ..or you've found a bug or otherwise done something wrong.
Both these issues are almost always limited to sandbox style AVNs.
Above all else though ...slow development speed is byy far my biggest annoyance. As far as im concerned if an AVN is going to take 3+ years to finish,,,dont release it untill your in the home straight.. (ofc i know they do it ..money ..but still)
