Good take, I forgot about RPGM somehow. Though those usually up being either the most grindy or shallow games I've played so I forget about them.Ren'Py for visual novels and most games, Twine/HTML for anything grindy. RPGM only for games like The Last Sovereign
I think that Unreal add too much complexity for most developers, C++ is very hard to do well, and most of the developers that want to do something more advanced than RenPy I think they use Unity, that I thinks is a good balance between advanced engine and ease of useI think Renpy is the best for the majority of games made for these adult-themed sex games. That said, I think Unreal is a huge missed opportunity for a lot of devs that just haven't cracked how to use it properly and to it's full potential. I hope to one day try exploring that a little and see if what's in my head is actually possible to pull off with the engine.
I'll try any system, but some games definitely have an optimal system, to the point they're nearly unplayable if it's the wrong system.I will try most games out if they interest me, regardless of system used. Though there has been many times here I have felt certain games did not fit the system or the other way around. I usually prefer Ren'Py, but I have found games on RPGM, Unity, and others that I did like as well.
