discussion What are your opinions on games made with real porn?

When you use real porn you have to make your game around the pictures you have. So you have to put up with the setting in place to make it work. It seems you have to have another kind of creativity to do that.
Storywise i wouldn't use real porn because i wanted to tell my story. So i think on this premise hs and daz are far more superior.

I have no idea why DAZ is so popular when it's an uncanny abomination with zero variety.

That aside though, it's fiiine for low-scale twine games. Having no art at all just gets too dry.

Not too big a fan. The only game it's ever worked with for me is College Daze, and it's mostly because the sheer complexity of the branching paths shows there's some real work put into that thing. Otherwise, most games with real stuff in them tend to be poorly-written excuses for more gasping actresses to be thrown up on screen, and I'm not interested in that. Porn acting is abjectly awful across the board, and the GIFs and such that are often used in those games turn what should be enticing scenes into cringe comedy sketches. It's hard to hold an erection when the woman in the clip looks like a goldfish on fent.

I'd rather have halfway decent art and some solid diction. 3D pics, 2D, doesn't matter; as long as it's not real. I even go for text-only games above ones with real porn in them. One of my favourite adult games is Degrees of Lewdity, and it's entirely rudimentary pixel art, none of which is arousing. Despite that, the game manages better than one with real porn in it through the strength of its writing and fetishistic concepts alone. I don't even like half the stuff in DoL, but it manages to appeal to me anyway. That's more than any series of poorly-acted porn GIFs has managed.

Boring and uninspired. Also largely useless considering its already out there. Not sure why it needs to be repackaged as something largely inferior to what it already is.

Personally, I'm not a fan of them, like at all. I think it's more than kind of lazy. I look at it like this, let's say I take your favorite movie, and then dub it over with complete gibberish. Did I create something, really? Sure, I guess? In the laziest fucking way possible. Yeah, you'd have to do some coding and whatever, but it's the not same. I'd rather play a game with the crappiest renders you've ever seen. Because at least the dev, they're trying, and could get better at rendering their models and whatever, with some time. How do you make real porn any better? What do you even do with it? Waste of time, and effort in my opinion. That time could be spent learning to use Daz3D or HS2 or something instead of pilfering clips or stills of real porn and making it into a "game".

I'd really like to read some opinions on this. Maybe somebody makes an argument and I see that I'm way off base here. I'm not trying to shit on any of you that like those games that use real porn. I say good for you. And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. You do you, play the games you like.

Spoiler alert, nobody is changing my mind.

It always feels a little uncanny to me, like I can't get immersed in the fiction of the game because i know the visuals are all taken from something else and the characters aren't originally intended to be characters in whatever story the game dev wrote around them. I don't think this necessarily makes the game BAD but it does make it hard for me personally to enjoy it.

Seems silly. It's too easy to feel the level of separation between what you're seeing being from some professional porn studio, and the writer superimposing their story onto it.

It's sorta like when people take a 2D artist's work and photoshop in their own story around the sides of the image.

I'm sure it could work in theory, but it's hard to shake the thought of the game creator just finding this random video and slapping it into their game.

this is exactly how I feel about it too! the gulf between what I'm looking at and what the writer tells me I'm looking at feels too big to completely push out of my mind.

First there is the possibility of copyright strikes and 2nd you have to preplan everything otherwise you end up using different actors and actresses and to me it ruins the game

Honestly my real beef with real porn is when devs cut the audio, you already "stole" the video leave the audio too!

If the game has an actual good story, a lot of different characters, situations, enjoyable gameplay and it's not that much cringe, then yeah I'll play them

I like real porn in my games as much as I like AI "art" in them.
Which is to say that I don't.
The reality of the clips and pics will overshadow the reality of the story to be told and, even though the story may be a good one, it still breaks the immersion.
I have the same problem with artists who go completely nuts on the body proportions. I get that it's an artistic expression of the aspects of the character they want to display, but I guess such things are as personal as all other matters of taste and preference.

Unless the pictures and gifs are specifically created for the game (which I won't see happening as why would you, at that point just make a whole video) it feels disjointed as hell and just completes destroys any cohesiveness and immersion I have.

I've tried a few times but I find that they can't really progress properly. If the model they are using hasn't done a certain scene, then it's a lot harder to include in the game. And when they do it's all smoke and mirrors with it being close ups of what ever the scene is such as anal being a close up of an ass rather than including any defining features of the model.
Plus the story is usually god awful so it misses all round
