A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. The goal is to remove bug-generated credits, protect real donation history, and rebuild the system in a cleaner and safer way going forward. - Jack Of Blades

Unpopular opinion - I don't want to be warned about extreme fetishes, even if I don't like them

So maybe we should put a warning when u edit the game page hehe

I understand your point, but still approve of being warned when my in game sister turns out to pack a massive schlong. Of course thats what the tag system is for, but if you start blocking tags it's shit to miss out on great games simply because they have one avoidable scene in them.

I always pay attention to tags, plus make sure to look at game reviews (on another site, here they are almost non-existent) before downloading a particular game/VN. Why? The duration of our lives is limited and it's just a pity to spend our time on something that disgusts me. Such a game I delete without thinking and regret.

it's nice to have the agency to engage only with certain parts of a game, but yea i totally see how it would take you out of immersion. think the best way that ive seen games handle it is just through the options menu at the start of the game. Lilith's Throne for example has per-kink toggles for some questionable stuff and it doesn't even really prompt you to go there, just trusts you that if you're sensitive to something, you'll check the options.

The warnings are ok but I think asking at the beginning of the game or toggles in the options are better.

Yeah the tags should be enough. I will never see a message that says "This scene contains SCAT content, would you like to skip?" because I will never play a game with the scat tag.

Tags and a warning before the main menu pops up would be more than enough.

I'm certain most will think I'm crazy for this one, but I dislike when games have warnings such as "THIS SCENE CONTAINS [insert fetish], WOULD YOU LIKE TO SKIP?". I think they horrifically kill the pace of a game and scene when they show up. With that said, I can get behind most kinks, even if I'm not super into it. I've got no particular liking for feet, but games love to warn me about foot scenes when I would just rather hold ctrl or whatever than have my scene get broken up.

They also tend to ruin surprises a lot of the time. Sometimes it's exciting when something unexpected happens, and that itself can be a turn-on. I know things like NTR can get to some people, so I completely understand why most games prefer to have a huge warning slapped before the content, but for me personally I would like it to just keep going with the flow of the scene.
I don't think any dev would take that risk, it's just begging for hate comments and whiners. Better safe than sorry as you really should never expect calm mature reactions from adults in any situation involving porn games.

Idk even with all the fd up shit ive seen if I see some horror gore shit thats ruining my night

I can understand the OPs point of view, even somewhat agree...

..however.

I almost had Fetish Locator ruined becouse i went the NTR route without realizing (i was and am very new to AVNs) that when the game stated its was the NTR route.. it meant there was absolutely no way you as the MC could turn things around...and since i dont like NTR and the multiple endings of Fetish Locator really do change some of the characters...it felt bad to see that ending.
Thankfully i got over it after playing through other endings ..most of which had similar revelations of characters that were the opposite to the NTR ending, that and the sequel game uses a specific ending as cannon that isnt NTR.

So ....if a game didnt announce NTR routes to me ..a similar situation could occur or worse ..and i wouldnt want that. So while i understand the idea behind the OPs opinion i think warnings for certain more extreme scenes, and more narrative affecting fetishes (like NTR) should be announced befor being shown. perhaps an option to disable such announcments would be helpful for those like the OP.

I think those warnings should be held for EXTREME fetishes like scat piss and guru.

I do appreciate the warnings for scat and piss because I don't even want to see that shit (literally)

WARNING CONTAINS FEET seems like a bit much

I say it depends. Most of that can be solved by just putting a warning about content in the tags or on the main post for a game. Some games though have "Avoidable NTR", and as a certified NTR hater I very much appreciate when I am playing a game that features it and the text says "IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION YOU WILL GO DOWN THE NTR ROUTE", saves me a fuckin headache of either having to roll back to previous saves until I figure out which one caused it, use a cheat program to check what variables get switched for each option, or just say fuck it and quit the game because it has lost my interest. It's one of those things where I can totally understand and agree with what you are saying, let shit be a bit of a surprise, but at the same time I think the REAL answer is that I shouldn't need a warning to figure out that this choice results in my LI getting fucked in front of my character. Telegraphing what happens as a result of your choices is a hard thing to get right, but when done well it can help avoid shit you don't want to see, while being nice and immersive.

i belive a warnning at the begian saying it has extreme fetishes is better then before it at that point at least the beginning you know what your getting into i believe

Many times I've been browsing for a game to download and come across one with some hot looking characters. I click on it to check the tags only to discover it has some content I don't care for, but also some I can enjoy. If there is no option to skip unwanted content I will most likely skip it entirely. This is bad for the player and the dev alike. Tags are VERY important, but not enough.

If there is no option to skip certain content you don't like then its probably a big part of the story and not a game you will enjoy. Otherwise, if it only has a couple of scenes associated with a particular tag, an option to turn it off at the beginning is ideal. This way the dev gets more downloads, you get to enjoy an otherwise great game and immersion is not broken.

Ultimately its up to the devs. They make a game they want to make. The smartest devs give you options. If a game has content you don't like or can't disable then don't play it.

Well I for one support tags and warnings as I've seen plenty of games that look good, but were with tags I can't stand playing.

I find lying devs though a bigger problem that claim that stuff is optional but still happens off screen like NTR...A.K.A you have no choice.
