Understanding Netorare (NTR), Netorase, and Netori: Respecting Diverse Preferences on Our Forum

Didn't realize this was a problem but seems to have been explained

There does seem to be a tendency to not adhere to the tag definitions given here. The latest example is "Burned", which for some reason was tagged "netorare". The MC is not in an exclusive relationship with anyone. He never shows signs of jealousy. There are simply characters who are not the MC having sex with other people who are also not the MC. That's what a "sex with others" tag is for, but not "netorare".

I had a lengthy response, but it got lost when I pushed a button, but it boils down to this: 99.9% of visual novels play into the male fantasy of being the guy every girl wants because he's got a shitty personality and a big dick.

NTR has evolved from the technical definition to a borderline InCel catch-all for any content that violates that fantasy. The same guys who say, "Don't they get it? It's just pixels?" also start REEEE-ing at those pixels when they don't directly play into that fantasy.

It doesn't matter if it's the first time the MC has ever met that woman; they still take issue with the idea that an unfamiliar penis has brushed against that girl. How dare a woman exists for something other than to be the MC's cock receptacle? Even when a second cock isn't involved, they don't like it. I was joking when I had Sasha say, "Every dude is under the hetero delusion that a lesbian couple is just a three-way missing its dick." And then some people started having a very visceral reaction because two girls were screwing around, and the main dick wasn't in the room.

Honestly, it's creatively stifling as a storyteller.

The words ‘寝取られ’ and ‘寝取られる’ are Japanese terms that have shades of meaning related to relationships and cheating in the context of sexuality. Both words are derived from the root ‘寝取る’ (netoru), which means ‘to take a partner from someone’. However, they have different forms and are used in different contexts.

‘寝取られ’ (netorare) is a noun that describes a situation where one partner watches their partner seduce or have sexual relations with someone else. The term is usually used to describe situations where a partner knowingly or unknowingly allows or enjoys their partner having intimate relations with another person. This can be related to sexual arousal or the satisfaction of watching a partner with other people.

An example of the use of ‘寝取られ’ (Netorare):
彼女は他の男性と関係を持っていることを知っていたが、彼は寝取られに興奮していた。
(He knew she was having a relationship with another man, but he was getting excited at the thought of her taking from him.)

‘寝取られる’ (Netorareru) is a verb that describes the action or process of a partner taking over from someone else. This term is usually used to describe situations where a partner is being cheated on or sexually seduced by another person. In this case, the partner does not realise or consent to the infidelity, but rather becomes a victim of infidelity.

An example of the use of ‘寝取られる’ (Netorareru):
彼氏が他の女性に寝取られたと知って、彼女は悲しみにくれた。
(After finding out that her boyfriend had been taken by another woman, she sank into sadness.)

Sorry for my bad English

In Japan, the abbreviation NTR is mostly used for Netoru, which is more neutral (third person). It's from this that the terms netorare, netorase, and netori originate.

netoru (寝取る) 寝 to lie down, to sleep (in this case, to have sex), 取 to take, to steal, to assume, to seize, る husband, wife, someone's partner.
To sexually steal someone's (wife or husband).

Genre: The feeling of betrayal, envy, loneliness, abandonment, robbery, and loss, and inferiority, incapacity and sexual incompetence.

Uwaki (浮気) in Japanese, which does not carry with it the idea of theft or loss, of taking, tori (取) from someone else, not the "negative" part of netoru, the partner's betrayal is never discovered, either the partner agrees or both betray and don't care.

Netorare which would mean the act of Netorareru (寝取られる) is the passive form of netoru
Your (wife or husband) is being sexually robbed from you.

netorare does not mean "cuckold," it refers to the act.

Netorareta (Cuckold) a man whose wife has been stolen from him.

Netorase which would mean the act of Netoraseru (寝取らせる)here acting as a cause of your loss.
You and the reason for losing (wife or husband) to someone else.

Netori which would mean the act of Netoreru (寝取れる) If the agent that causes someone's loss.
You sexually steal (wife or husband) from someone.

The abbreviation NTR is used to refer to the verb Netoru without defining a point of view, only the act itself. Therefore, NTRR is used for Netorare and NTL for Netori (due to the sound similarity between Ri and Li), while NTRS is always used for Netorase.
