Do you prefer when a VN doesn't show the MC's face? Like either a first person view most of the time or like just not showing their eyes at least. I kinda prefer it but I understand when devs wanna showcase their MC's face and render to add to the story.

This has been asked already. But the answer remains to show the face. I really don't like looking at necks, and it makes it harder to make kissing and cunnilingus scenes.
Also, where they show censored faces that's even worse.

I think they should show the faces, it gives more possibilities for the scenes and angles.

I think it really depends on whether the MC has a personality or not.
If he has a huge personality but no face it kinda takes you out of the experience.

I'd agree with this

I never was into the self-inserting thing, so I do prefer third person views and for the MC to have name and face (and not be an ugly motherfucker).

I like POV games, so I choose the "hide" option. Although if the MC has an amazing personality, I don't mind if they show it.

I find that hiding the mc breaks immersion after it depends on the game and how it's done

I'm happy as long as the MC or the man in the scene isn't a ugly bastard.

Honestly, if a story is told in such a way that a face would be needed to convey scenes, then show it, but pov is good, too. Most people like seeing faces because the eyes and facial expressions can really help to bring a story to life and help immerse the reader/viewer in the scenes and story being told.

Another vote for show the face. Tons of emotions can be conveyed. As long as the MC isn't outrageously ugly, let us live our fantasy

Female protagonists almost always have a face...and i dont care about male protagonists.

Show the face, or at least don't avoid showing it. Not because I want to see it, but because games that go out of their way to never show the protagonist's face just tend to wind up looking silly at some point.

Probably better to show the face (if not ugly), then again if it is done right you can not show, The 1st half of WVM is a good example of not showing the face (and I liked it), however they later got lazy and just put a black box over the face..... and it was horrible....

peace

It usually feels that the game can let the main character have more skin in the game if they show the face. I think it makes things better usually.

To hide it is my preference. In literature (and so in games with narrative) you hide the face of the "hero" (term used loosely) so that the reader/player could project on to them. This also work with silent protagonist (like Link). You embody the MC that way and create a more easily strong connection between player and MC.

The other solution is to have a well written MC, that instead of project on to it, you correlate to it. Luckily, there is a nice number of games that opt for this approach and dont fail

I prefer to see the face, but games that hide it don't bother me as long as it's well done (unlike Braindrop, which hide the face with a black block 😅 ).
