I'm making my way through NLT Media's last completed game "The Genesis Order" and I started thinking about how nice it'd be if someone would remake any of the NLT games in Ren'Py turning them into pure vn's. I'm not a huge fan of sandbox games and IMO cutting out all the grinding and questing in NLT games would make them infinitely better. I understand doing a remake of an NLT game would be a recipe for litigation so there's nothing that could be done with them (if anyone from NLT is reading, I think there'd be a market for your games turned into non-sandbox vn's).

Turning away from NLT games, there's massive number of old/abandoned games that could be remade, from other sandbox games, games with bad or outdated art, or any of the older Japanese games.

Sticking with the idea of remaking old Japanese games for a minute, I think it'd be an easy way for someone with the programing and/or art skills to create a "new" game without necessarily having to have a good grasp of the English language, storytelling, or story progression. As an example, imagine taking games like "The Sagara Family" or "Amorous Professor Cherry" (these have both been remastered recently so obviously not these two) and porting them to Ren'Py with AI or DAZ assets, something like that would have to be far more easy to convert than creating a game from scratch (while still keeping the subscription model of Patreon support as the game is incrementally updated). There could even be an opportunity to take a non-porn related story and turn it into a porn game with a fair amount of extra work.

I'm also thinking of all the abandoned games that can be found on this and other sites (and unlike the Japanese games I was talking about above, you could probably get permission from the original creator to continue/rework their game). An abandoned game would take considerably more work to create a finished game from, but it could be a way for someone thinking of getting into game creation to learn from reworking something that's already been started.

Anyways, it's just something that came to mind and I got kind of curious what other people thought about the idea of remaking older games.

Non-porn: Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Gothic, 3D GTA series (normal remake not that plastic shit that Rockstar gave us), Some PS1 games (i dont remember names lol)

I dislike grinding and sandbox games. I have played a few, but my saves broke in later updates and I just couldn't care enough to start again. Remaking it as a VN allows you to skip quickly to where you left off even if you have a broken save. So less so from my point of view about the old games, and more about changing the type of game. You could probably remake a finished VN into a sandbox game as well if that was interesting to some people.

Just today I noticed a new Lust Epidemic on that nameless site. But it doesn't seem to be a remake of the Treasure of Nadia prequel, just has the same name....

I would prefer to have almost all sandbox games as a VN. I've never found an example in which the narrative justifies the huge time wasted, especially on replays. That said, I cannot imagine the amount of work necessary to convert say an RPGM game to, for example, Ren'Py is worth it. Sadly, what's done is done, and I don't think there are enough resources in the AVN space as is.
I only played one such conversion: "My Girlfriend's Amnesia Ren'Py Edition". Let's say the results were... not good. RPGM parts were still mixed up in the game flow, so it presented no real advantage.

And as an example, if I could, I would convert "Harem Hotel" to a semi-sandbox like "Desert Stalker". I think DS has the best of both worlds

So I've always wanted someone to remake Big Brother...

Abandoned games I'd want to see finished:

• Teacher's Pets
• Bad Teacher
• Lexi
• Reincarnotica
• Doctor Amana
• Polarity
• The Manifest (actually kinda have hope the dev will come back to it once he finishes his current game)
• Esteria

Those I'd just want finished without any real changes, more a completion than a remake. Some games I'd hope to see completed but also with some changes made to them.

• Casting Couch (mainly just switching out some of the actresses, but that's personal taste)
• Summer Camp (improve the models, shore up the writing some)
• Astral Lust (improve the models; they're not bad but have a bit of that HS2 these-are-all-the-same-girl look)
• Ecchi Sensei (improve the renders, and good lord try to tighten up on the file size and game length)

Then some games I thought had a good premise but for whatever reason the execution got botched, or at least could have been much better:

• Story (progress the, umm, story more, make it feel like things are going somewhere and not like it's still in the prologue, and improve the writing some)
• Influence (either drastically rework sandbox so it's not 90% empty backgrounds, or scrap it entirely)
• Earth's Last Guardian (strip out deranged grind, replace with a small helping of actually fun combat)
• Faded Bonds (stick to the initial premise, but also massively improve the writing both so it's more readable and to clear up holes in the logic)

If the games feel clunky as hell and there's no animations, sure, a remake would be great.
If we talk about non porn games, there are a bunch of games that truly need a remake, games that have a great story but they're clunky as fuck and the gameplay is just not up today standards, plus, high quality graphics are always appreciated .

I think the dev is still planning to revisit Esteria, just don't hold your breath.

I hope so, I was actually more interested in it than his other game. Especially after the rework to the latter.

Here's a perfect example, I was just doing some consolidation and going through some old files and came across an old copy of the original Bible Black game. It's been years since I played that game but I remember it being really, really good and decided to give it a reinstall. After doing some Googling I was finally able to get it installed and I started it up only to get a full screen not designed for widescreen monitors, so I think "okay, just play in windowed mode", and what I get is a little 5"x5" window, (on a 32" monitor, who knows what it'd be if I was on a laptop). But wait, there's more, "okay", I think, "I can live with this little screen, it's not that bad", only to then find out the sound is at full blast with no way to lower the volume in game, you CAN turn the music/voices off, you just can't turn them down. I'll probably still find a walkthrough and skip through the story to get to the scenes I want to see, but it'd be really nice if someone could do a remake/reimagining of this game in Ren'Py, or really, any other modern game engine.

I bet there's more than a few people that've never played the original Bible Black, which is a real shame, because it's one of the first great porn games in English that I remember playing.

I like remake when done correctly. I would like to see a remake of steam bot chronicles a ps2 game and there are a few NSFW game i would like to see as well like lighting worrier raidy

I don't mind the remakes except when the creator stops a story in the middle to start it over.
