discussion Thought on Puzzle in Game?

Personally I love puzzle games like Magnum Opus, Hexcells, BabaIsYou and so on. Some things like that in a game enhance the experience for me, but not those puzzles that require hours of wasted time searching for secret bullshit that is impossible to find without a guide like every single rpgm adventure game from NLT and its 400 pages walkthroughs

I think that puzzles in a porn game feel like a waste of time, and they only do it to extend the length of the game.

It depends on the purpose and nature of the puzzle. Keep in mind that being a porn game is not necessarily a disqualifier, because it can conflate story-focused games with porn and games where the porn is the point. It depends on the purpose and nature of the puzzle and the game itself.

Somehow I find a hard puzzle to be better than a bad AVN

If you're gonna make a puzzle game, then make a puzzle game (with good puzzles.) Throwing shitty puzzles into a game because you feel like you need to add gameplay of any sort is terrible. Nobody wants to suddenly do a sliding puzzle just to advance. A puzzle in a game that otherwise doesn't have any should fit into the story somehow. Don't just hand the player a rubik's cube.

I love puzzle games but generally don't want too much of it in my NSFW games especially if it is mandatory and is hard-blocking progression on story or scenes. Just kind of takes me out of it since I'm not really looking to do puzzles when I download a random porn game. Completely different story if the game itself is meant to be a puzzle game that is also NSFW, but if its like your average AVN or RPGM game that has a really annoying/jank/time-consuming puzzle I'm not about it.

Also, if anyone really likes puzzle games and hasn't played these, Return of the Obra Dinn, Void Stranger, and the Golden Idol games are fire.

I have very bad thoughts coming into my head. All kinds of puzzles and other mini-games only distract from either the main plot (in visual novels), or from the basic, main story gameplay (as in normal games). They are useless, just an irritating factor.
