The writing side of things (Question for Devs and non devs)

A well-written script can do that to you, a bad one just doesn't have that aspect at all. This is genre fiction, there's nothing wrong with that. If you want to make a haunted house movie with jumpscares, great. We've all seen it before, we're not expecting greatness. But do the genre fiction well, even if the tropes are overused or don't make sense. Don't be boring, have fun with it, don't be lazy.
- the problem is that, genre itself puts severe limits on how "good" writing can really be in order to "work". The bar is so low, so in order to be bad, you really need to exceed all possible thresholds. While in mainstream it is actually opposite, there you need to exceed in order to produce something of note. In porn its just... to quote one famous developer - "its just works". Bar is that low. It is even lower than in mainstream games, which are often praised for their B-movie level plots and writing. Most of porn games are on that acceptable level, level that is really low. While games that are bad are very very few in comparison. Hence, why i say that writing is of way lesser importance to everything else. This is true for all games as media, and doubly so for porn.

I totally agree and think I just have a different scale of "good enough". I'd say of the porn games I've played, less than half are "good enough". But now we really are just talking taste
