I'm thinking about doing the following regarding age: you can give the MC's age at the beginning, say (14-17), and other characters will have ages different by -2 or +1 [from the MC's age]. Did you get it? I found it simpler and easier. Sometimes it's cool to meet a character and they're younger or older than you. While not exactly my taste, the renders show a distinct style that would make your game distinguishable, which is big big plus in my eyes. As others said, you could aim for more variety in body types and more important on faces. Don't worry about tuning down the age visually. As long as you allow to set the age at the beginning of the game, even Frickin95 would allow you to distribute it (although I never understood their criteria).
If your story also finds some unique viewpoint to make it different, even in a typical trope like a school setting, then you might be up to something.
Yes, setting just one age and have the others fixed relaitve to that one is THE perfect method. It allows for you to write a consistent story around it, and is easier to do in the artwork. And I hate it to set the age of protagonists in the beginning if I don't know anything about them.I'm thinking about doing the following regarding age: you can give the MC's age at the beginning, say (14-17), and other characters will have ages different by -2 or +1 [from the MC's age]. For distribution purposes you should state that the default age of the MC is 18, but allow for lower ages in this setting, maybe also giving some hint of what is actually intended.
