Accursed Farms, a minor but long active Youtuber, did start a campaign to improve consumer rights in regard to video games. Basically he wants to press the issue with the authorities by making an example out of Ubisoft. Ubisoft did shut down a game recently. Maybe you want take part in the effort by filling out a forms.

But people will keep buying. Maybe because they aren't aware of this problem, or that this is a problem, maybe they just don't care as long as they get the short time fix until the next "amazing" game is published.

With a legal approach they would be forced to change it.
Until they find another loophole or cashcow.

I can kind of get behind what you're saying, but people are still gonna buy games, right, regardless of how shitty the companies are?

EA is horseshit, but people still buy Madden and everything else from them all the time. That's why I don't believe boycotts will ever truly be a thing with these game companies. For every 10 people that boycott, a hundred morons will buy the games.

I think I can lump myself into the moron category.. I stupidly buy still.

But there are many consumers out there, that are less informed. This Ubisoft event is just a pretext to force legislation to change. At least it tries to be. Would be good for costumers world wide.

I saw the video, it's good to have someone apparently so well informed fighting for a fair cause.

I myself mostly play single player games and nowadays more and more retro stuff, but I hope this will have some positive impact for game preservation.

It's also important to note that publishers are becoming increasingly insolent with their methods.
That's why it's better to annoy them reather sooner than later.

My two cents on the issue is that if nobody says anything, companies will get even more brazen about it. We're already seeing a marked increase in single player games which require an internet connection. I hope the campaign actually does some good.

I'm curious about this, because this is a real issue but I think we are the vocal minority and most people just doesn't care. Look at how lootboxes and micro transactions were received a few years ago and now they are fucking everywhere, publishers would have backed down a long time ago if it was not profitable.

Yeah... sadly it's not that easy. Especially the big publishers can ignore those statements. They'll always make money because most don't care, don't know or don't want to know.
See it like this.
A food food chain sells hot dogs made out of crap meat.
You won't buy it, the few people you can tell about it and believe or care may stop too.
But if you can get the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) involved, yeah, that really helps.

Well then greedy big companies have brought the "AAA" industries to it's knees by them self. The "AAA" industry is collapsing because a loud enough majority is finally seeing the greed and are rly starting to get feed up by all greedy microtransactions, and production of low quality games on a high budget.
The bigger studios will prob survive sure. But even them are struggling.

Indie games have slowly been on the rise over the last decade. And I believe that they will take forefront over "AAA" soon enough.
Then some indie studios will get bought up by bigger companies that pay more attention to the shareholders than their fan base. And the cycle will continue.
