If branching is done correctly and not for sole purpose of blocking content then I prefer it over single playthrough.
However most of games I played that have branching are garbage because of it.

I sometimes replay a game I liked. but, to replay it again just to check if I missed some branch, no.
Those branching games sometimes force you to chose something or someone over another and I don't like that.

I like the idea of branching paths but I'm too dumb and somehow miss some which is why I mostly need a walkthrough mod or guide.

Single playthrough. If it is branching I'll mod it and put everything in a single run anyway.

branching only if it is short not going to sit through a whole harry potter book again

I like branching paths, especially when there are several "LI" options

Well... it depends... if there's too many branches i get a little bit overwhelmed

single playthrough for me. tho i like some variations and choices, but as long as i can catch em all i want on main path am good.
you can have both in same game tho branching does take extra work., but choices are good.
