Question for those of you who like incest: do you prefer all the girls to look alike, y'know, since they're family and all? Or are you willing to sacrifice that bit of immersion if it means getting more LI variety?

Was going through the incest tag to find a new game to play through when I realized that a lot of the girls in those games look nothing alike, despite often being daughters, sisters, mothers, etc, so the question sort of popped into my head.

Physical appearance should have some mild resemblances sure, but as we know daughters (which I'm assuming we're focusing on mostly here) are well known to constantly follow fashion and trends among friends which means while they would bear a physical similarity to each other they would look vastly different aesthetically, either through clothing trends or makeup etc even differing hair colours and in some cases even the use of contact lenses which allows the wearer to change eye colour

Another vote for the necessity of mild resemblance to get a better suspension of disbelief.

As mentioned, Sinful Summer did it very well, while radiant gave us triplets with different body types, hair color and so on, but keeping enough traits to make the connection between them as clear as the sun.

Similar is good. But if they make the characters look like twins, and they're not twins, it's dumb.

Don't care to much about it, way more important to me for the characters to look good. It's better if they are similar but I won't be all too bothered by it.

I think it depends how different. Some games they have your sisters/daughters all looking different in terms of hair colour, eye colour, size and even race sometimes. But then the alternate is games like F.I.L.F where the characters look so similar they are almost identical looking making it irrelevant who you're talking to or interacting with. It needs a good middle ground. Variation but still realistic.

variety is always better. if everyone is the same then thats boring asf. doesn't mean they should be completely different people with no shared physical traits. probably is harder but thats what makes a game better.

You know, I have to admit that I've never really thought about this (which is very strange, considering the amount of incest game's I've played). But now that it's on my mind, I'd have to go with reasonable variety. Keep the general skin tone consistent, but give them different hair and eye colors, hair styles and personalities. The only obvious exception is with twins, where you want to emphasize the similarities.

My go-to "setup" would be having the mother, obviously, sharing some characteristics with the MC and his sisters, eye/natural hair color and the like. but the best way to get variety and still some immersion would be to have MULTIPLE daughters as options, in different age groups, such as having an older sister for the MC who may look a bit different than a twin sister for the MC (or twin little sisters if you want to go that route). I feel the MC at least should always share hair/eye color with at least 1-2 family members for those games, but obviously you're going to have various tropes you may need to fill that could necessitate other colorings for the hair such as if you were making one emo/goth or a bimbo. still though, even incest harem games typically have a LI or two that aren't a part of the family, so they can be used to bring in variety as well.

Long story short, both "look-alike" immersion and variety can be good, it really just depends on the execution done by the dev themselves.

Immersion is broken when all family members are dark haired with brunette girls and then there's one blonde daughter. If she were a step sibling or something it would help. Or if she later dyed her hair. Variety is great, but it should make sense.

100% should. It's called family for a reason. Same blood, same gene, different soul. I'd have questions if my son has different color than me and my wife.

Surprisingly this has never been an issue for me. It would look nicer though. I'm reminded of The Daddy Plan where there is some family resemblance, which is appreciated
