Personally, I would *not* suggest Name of the Wind. It isn't bad, but it's not finished; that can be frustrating for a new reader.

But, since you like Disco Elysium - take a look at Philipp K. Dick, especially his short stories and Ubik. It isn't always easy fare - but I think it could be something you like if you enjoyed the whole personality shenanigans of Disco Elysium.

if you're looking for erotica, I can recommend you many great stories

One of the all time greats is "Ordinary Sex Life" by BlueDragon. Be warned: all the stories together is like 4-5 million words. For reference, the full Harry Potter series is 1 million words.

Being a Yakuza fan, you may want to check out Fonda Lee's Green Bone Saga (it's fantasy+Triads more than the literal Yakuza, but it's in the ballpark). The first one is Jade City.

hello! i am a pretty uneducated dude in what reading books is concerned, i get my entertainment and stories from games and series almost exclusively, yet this year i finally wanted to give reading actual books a try.
problem for me is i dont really have friends that read stuff outside of the classic harry potter, lord of the rings, self help or how to make money books and the like, so they cant really recommend something i would like.
so i want to ask you all for book recommendations!
...any suggestion is welcome, be it sfw/nsfw, audiobook, a fanfic even!
What about history books, non-fiction, or even mythology, paranormal or the occult? I think those could make for interesting reads and while adding some useful information to your overall knowledge?
For Free books in .epub and .pdf you have Oceans of PDF :
Free books, magazines, manga, novels, papers, documents in various formats:

I'm not a witch so I don't practice withcraft, but I do find their stuff interesting. If you read Harry Potter, then this book may come to mind since wands are no small part in that series.

Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing
note: that many manga are infected and bastardized by localizers. I think one would be better off with a fan translation instead.
I like the anime, which is how I started reading a bit of the manga.

The Witcher books are pretty good and easy to read. Not an overly complex fantasy world
+1 to this, Witcher books are fantastic, and if you enjoy the setting theres 3 games +spinoffs of extra content

Web novels aren't for everyone but if you can stomach it, "Reverend Insanity" and "Shadow Slave" in that order are probably some of the most engrossing things I've read.

I highly recommend the . if you like hidden magic world with a guy that wants to be left alone. there is 12 books with a great audiobook voice actor. you can use a site called audiobookbay .lu if you want to torrent them. its one of the few books that after I torrent them I actually bought all the books.

A fun fantasy comedy with an amazingly well written monster protagonist is "Boxxy T. Morningwood: Everybody loves large chests"
Another recommendation would be all the books by randi darren and william d arand. It's the same person, but one pen name writes a bit more explicit of stories. He tends to write trilogies, with many expanding to 6 books eventually, but almost all of his work is part of a shared multiverse with an ongoing story and reoccurring characters. That said, even with the connections and cameos, most trilogies are fine as standalones. His books cover almost every genre in fiction, but do have the commonality of almost every series ending up with a harem.

If you want something with a lack of morals, Stuart Grosse tends to write long series made up of short books, where the protagonist is unapologetically a horrible person and a rapist. Mostly supervillain style power fantasy. His politics do start to shine through more and more in his recent work, which is something to keep in mind. Not the political position I had expected from him, but I wasn't reading for his political takes either way.

Finally, for something far more standard, a good urban fantasy series is "the paranoid mage". The world building in that series is great, with my personal favorite take on the Fae.
