Updated due to the game being leak elsewhere.
I mean, isn't that just the classic. Patreon dev makes cool game, updates it fairly frequently until they earn a lot on patreon then suddenly there's months and months between updates.... Not sure how much updates this game got before but I've seen it so many times now
If you believe the comments, then even at the beginning of development, updates were released approximately once a year.

$4,000+ usd per month would pay for everything needed to support my family

$4,000 usd each month would pay for my:
full rent
all our food
all of our new clothes
electricity
water
cell phone bill
internet bill
public transportation monthly passes
entertainment (movies, games, festivals, random days/nights out)
all birthday, other holiday & christmas gifts
and I'd even have enough left over to save about $500 each month for a new (used) car

Yeah Dev work on neko paradise is probably contributing a lot to the slower updates, like always with people who release more than one game at a time.

4,000 a month in the US is enough to live off as well. I can't blame developers who milk funding, I blame the system and how it works.

They should add terms saying you need bi-monthly updates to collect your money, and in time ban accounts that go a year without updates.

For me, this is a lot of money. In our country, judging by the minimum wage, this is earnings for almost 2 years

this is not true. Alorth (who makes Neko Paradise) is not the one in charge of this game, just it's art. Which is not who/what is causing the slowness.

Both Alorth and SirDammed pretty much have admitted that the problem is SirDammed. SirDammed is the one writing the story alorth can't create the art unless he knows what happens in the scenes.
This is the only game that I follow where the bottleneck is the writing. SirDammed spends more time playing video games and complaining about the state of the video game industry than he does working on his own game.

First of all, creating stories is definitely not my thing. Secondly, I have a very old computer. Thirdly, I don't know English. 🤷‍♂️
sounds like a good place to start

I see, that's really strange indeed. It's not like there is that much text in a VN like this to begin with. Can only imagine its slow on purpose.

This game is SO good. I get the concern if it looks like SirDammed is just ignoring the game. That could be a symptom of creative block. It happens sometimes. Look at some book and movie series that have years upon years between releases.

Personally, I'm a "quality over quantity" fan on my VNs. While the waiting sucks, if we get a good update that has plenty of content, it could be worse. I'd rather devs take the time it takes to get it right - including maybe taking some time off if they are hitting a roadblock or burnout is on the horizon. That's better than them deciding to abandon a game they've spent countless hours creating and that we've all invested our time, efforts, and fandom into following and playing.

People always complain these games run over the author's estimated deadlines, then they contrast it with some slop game that's had a hundred updates and a new one every week and are like "why can't you be this prolific with YOUR masterpiece?". I get it if people are paying and were sold on regular updates, but I think most of the people who do complain are the freeloaders like me.
