The original game had used AI to make the love interests look like real-world celebrities. For example, the girl on the left in the banner had Emma Watson's face. This rework gives them all normal non-famous faces.

No need for that - the current release has all the old content, untouched. The devs haven't got around to re-rendering the earlier content. Will they change it later? Only time will tell, but for now it's still there.
