Our Apartment is an expansion of the concepts in the popular The Couch, rebuilding a lot of it's features from scratch an adding a lot more.

Like I said earlier I was considering reworking the grope system and the poll confirmed that! So, I immediately began work and the system is now like 95% complete. This also presents some new opportunities.
For example, I think I may be able to support adding gropes to pose mode, and maybe making the interaction a bigger part.
It's also feasible to support toys and such as well. As objects can be instantiated. I don't know how far I'll take this, but I have some plans.
At the moment the system only works in sex sim and does not have any mechanical impact.

This is a short update; there's nothing new in the way of features.
But the upgrade to Unity 6.3 is complete, and as such some performance improvements have been made.
Using some of the new features there should be improvements to texture streaming, and now broader LOD use.
The benefit in some cases may be small, in other cases larger. And some quality settings may look a bit worse (I'll work on that)
But mostly memory usage should be A LOT better across the board.
The upgrade to 6.3 was actually done on the 28th of last month, what took a long time was managing to actually build the project cause I had a crazy number of shader variants.
And this was after I made improvements, was initially like near 200K
I figured it out and thankfully got the build time down to around 2-3 hours, this also improves memory usage. And made trying an android build quicker.
Unfortunately, as you can see here, I have not yet addressed the animation memory issue. This is a sample of the memory usage (in the editor so it's not accurate but still) as you can see all the needed animations for the apartment scene are loaded all the time.
I might not address this, this month. we'll see.
I think my next task will be the grope rework. Which I think it might be possible to include the functionality in other scenarios too...
This android build is largely a test, so don't expect it on itch yet, there will be some polish after the grope stuff is reimplemented.
I'm also going to try OSX builds again...

- Naomi's skin, and hair shaders have been updated! You can see the difference here, Left is old, Middle is New, and Right is the unity default shader. Main improvements is ambient occlusion, hair and specular lighting for non-sun light.
- Gropes and holds have been reimplemented for the first time on a basic level, unfortunately I've only configured gropes for cowgirl. Next update will have more. I this is functionality I literally just finished a day or two ago. Please forgive some issues with it though...

Apparently rebalancing some stats stuff caused the weekend to play for I assume the first time in Act 3. And the evening dialogue for Act 3 was entirely disconnected. Apparently, no one ever encountered this before? Or maybe it was done recently.
Due to the nature of this issue I decided to fix it for android aswell. I also changed some texture settings to maybe reduce memory usage and make the game play on some more devices.

What's new since 0.2.7/0.2.8?
The primary focuses since the last release has been Story, Progression, and Mechanics.
Story
Before you saw the daily loop, but not in context, not in context of the story and not in context of the game as a whole. Now Our Apartment starts from the beginning when you first meet Naomi. Then you progress the story to Act 4. Act 4 is what you all have been basically playing so far. Thats when sex sim unlocks, dress up, etc. The way this unlocks will change with later updates (somethings have been moved to Act 5).
For now, when you reach Act 4 the game will continue but not progress further story wise, later updates will add Act 5, then etc, etc. and with those updates new content will come, being sex sim outfits, or other plans.
Feedback on the story is appreciated!
Do understand much of the story scenes have place holders, so sadly you won't see Naomi as much as I would like, but this will change over time. Music has also not been configured yet, so sadly it's just the one theme for now! Next update will have music changes through out scenes. XD
WARNING: I accidentally included the skip button in the build, avoid using this it's risky.
Progression
Additionally, you'll notice you and Naomi have your own stats. Right now this is used for story progression, but in the future this will affect a lot more. Affecting player performance in sex sim, Naomi may give a morning surprise, all sorts of things are possible and planned.
We'll elaborate more over time. For now some events trigger, and there's place holder events, and these will be updated with proper dialogue soon.
Additionally, you'll note "Activities" in the Evening and sometimes afternoon, these a can be used to accelerate certain aspects of progression. For example, chatting with Naomi can make her closer to you and move the story along.
Mechanics
Now while sex sim hasn't 100% returned to functionality gropes are still missing for now and will be re-added in the next update. There is new functionality. This is in the form of Buffs and Debuffs.
During sex sim, things like cumming for example will apply a temporary debuff affecting arousal rates. Things like giving Naomi praise can apply buffs to her which affect arousal or other things. Soon buffs, debuffs, likes, dislikes, position, speed, gropes, the Players and Naomis stats, if you did foreplay or not will all factor into what happens in sex sim. And soon there will be better conclusions aswell as a reward for finding certain outcomes.
You'll also find some other new functions like a fly camera (which has some issue to be fixed, new pose mode features and other stuff.
OH and SAVING! You can save the game and save outfits! FYI though game saving is only available when the activity menu is available, so basically only in the evening on most days.

These are not changes since 02.8 exactly but close.
- First time releasing the story broadly! Please forgive the place holder stuff...Proper characters and cinematics will come; the placeholder data basically ensures that stuff will implement seamlessly in the future. FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED!
- Some new cinematics in Act 0 and 1, but mainly a lot of place holder scene descriptions!
- Initial progression systems! Activities selected in the afternoon or evening now affect character stats, these stats have some impacts currently but will have a lot more in the future. Stats dictate unlock of various content and events. Again much place holder is here.
- Act 4 functional! You should be able to play from the start of the game to act 4, act 4 is what most people have been playing. This is where things like sex sim are unlocked. While what unlocks at this point will change in the future for now it's what you're familiar with.
- Pose mode updates! Some new features like adjusting exposure, saturation, and other effects have been added! This is still experimental.
- HDR Support! Initial HDR support has been added, it can be toggled and configured in the settings menu. Changes may require reloading the game or just waiting a bit playing the game. This is an initial implementation.
- SSGI added! This can enhance the lighting in a lot of scenes, but comes at a performance cost, as such it's off at default.
- Setting to unlock all outfits! This is cause progression is incomplete, recommended after reaching Act 4.
- Various fixes to sex sim (still some issues tho)
- Previews for new lewd activities! I've been silent about what kinds of things to expect but I decided to include previews in this build. These previews may include very little dialogue, and don't have visuals yet, and do not represent the final state at all. They also need to be unlocked. Features include foreplay & blow job training. Foreplay can be done at any time solo or right before sex sim (which will in the future add a buff). Blow job training will trigger automatically under certain conditions then be available from there, and perhaps randomly thereafter. More will be shown in due time as their concepts get more fleshed out.
- Other place holder activities like Exercise, Cooking and more, these things affect stat progression.
What's not included?
This release was focused on being a return to functionality. As such the new content previewed earlier is not implemented yet. BUT that is the focus for the next release, and due to things being functional generally shouldn't take a lot of time to deliver.
After this release likely has a few bug fixes for major issues, we'll work on delivering new content.
What about other platforms like android?
After a break (I've been at trying to get this build ready for a month and a half now), I'll work on releasing this build on android and other OS's! I presume there will be multiple issues, but the build will come.

This release is a small increment because not a whole lot has been added. Mostly it's UI fixes and optimizations for the android release. Of which this should be more stable than previous android releases.
WARNING THOUGH, because of the way outfit items are loaded, the game may freeze for a moment while an "Outfit Preset" loads and other items may not immediately appear when selected. There're no loading indicators yet, this will be improved in the future. Selecting outfit items too fast or rapidly rapping while an outfit loads may crash the game.
- Random Outfit Toggle! You can now disable Naomi automatic swapping outfits in the settings. Want Naomi to live like a wolf girl? Now you can! While this is a QoL feature it may change a bit to avoid conflicts with story stuff in the future, but this should always be an option from now on.
- UI Tool Tips! Among some other UI issues fixed, I heard this quite a bit from people, so now when you hover over some UI items, you'll get a tool tip on what the button is. It might be a bit iffy sometimes though, usually after selecting a button.
- SSAO Improvements! I finally was able to figure out why the better SSAO settings didn't work and now that's added. Resulting in a much nicer effect that was seen right before changing to URP a while ago.
- Many UI Improvements! The first implementation of the UI had much lacking, and a lot of things have been improved! For example, UI scale is no longer enabled at default. And some instances where the UI would not change on highlight has been improved. More work is still needed ofcourse.
- Ultrawide screen is fixed! This went under the radar for a while and I have no idea how long this has been busted, but given how it was related to an Android issue probably for a long time. I can't fix these things if people don't tell me about them!
- TONS OF BUG FIXES! A lot was broken last build despite the many improvements. This release seems to be very functional fixing some core issues. Thanks to everyone on the discord testing and helping me find problems! It's impossible for me to look through everything.
- Cum VFX system added with integration across cinematics, sex sim, and blowjob training
- (NEW to itch) Grope mechanics now affect arousal buildup and decay with improved stability and new top-menu toggle
- Naomi's body receives skin softening filter for softer more feminine appearance
- Major rendering upgrades including improved SSGI, SSAO/GTAO/RTAO, DLSS support, and new low-end Unlit quality mode
- Facial expressions fixed and with better reset behavior and mouth animation lock (not enabled by accident, so next update)
- 3D VN camera system reworked for better lighting and consistency

- Noteable errors is occasional continuity issues between cinematics and dialogue, general missing FX, and incorrect lighting (largely due to time of day differences). These can be ignored for now
- Errors relating Naomi sometimes not looking at the camera when she should can also be ignored, there is one noted scenario where this looking causes animation clipping.
- In dress up selecting and already equiped item will not remove it
- DLSS and STP are currently disabled, only TAA available for now until I can solve another issue...
- WARNING! there is an issue with the game being played in languages other than English, if the game starts in a different language, please change it to english then reload the game to play.
