Well we call them "šampinjoni". But those mushrooms are know all around Europe.
Around here the only ones you can normally get are the button ones (and sometimes Portabella) - even though my state grows more mushrooms than any other US state. But the kind they put on pizza I think they get off people who have really bad athlete's foot feet.

As a european i have enjoyed more Pizza in Italy than in the USA where i have been traveling to both countries quite a lot. For me it is not only about what is on top of the Pizza... It is also about the dough... For me dough usually is just a carrier of the main food... therefore for me it should be as thin as possible and still stable, this can be quite challenging - i tried it quite often myself and made it to a personal self made profession at home . In this case the ingredients don't need to have an exaggerated flavour, because the dough is not that prominet. Then you taste the salami, ham, champignons etc. and espacially the cheese in its nuances. What i dislike in the US when eating Pizza is mostly the sweet taste in the dough or maybe in the tomato sauce... suggar belongs mostly to candy... ;)

It is not meant as an offend, in europe we have also have a lot of similar misinterpretations of italian style Pizza and i know, you can still get the real italian Pizza in the US... at least everyone has its own taste. But as not beeing a local there, as a visitor it is hard to segregate between marketing and honest intention in a short time without trying. Rather i like to visit a Red Robin or similar for a great Burger or Steak and take some good BBQ sauces from groceries back home in my luggage.

My go to is pep, mushrooms and sausage.

Just pepperoni for me. Also, light on the cheese with extra sauce. Ordering pineapple on one should result in jail time.

pepperoni pizza is by far my favorite
I like to have 2nd type of meat so I'll go with Ham , but can go with double pepperoni on it also
For veggies I like mushroom and hot peppers
I dislike sausages on my pizza
Pineapple doesnt belong on a pizza

I can feel the Pineapple haters raging.....It's hanging in there

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I genuinely find it hilarious that people that hate pineapple on pizza are so...vigorous in their...dislike that they...affirm their preferences whenever the topic arises. You hit the nail on the head, Bonk. I mean, there's a lot of toppings I can't abide (I'm looking at you onions), but that's a level of passion I don't know that I can ever attain.

I almost always go for some BBQ sauce based pizza when available with mushroom and chicken at the very least

I'll eat just about any pizza you put in front of me if it's free. But my preferences are pepperoni, sausage, and jalapenos.

~Dalai Lama~
tomato sauce, basil, cherry tomatoes, mozarella burrata

The only one I would eat among the many ones listed.

Mine is as simple as yours. tomato sauce, mozzarella, zola.

Pepperoni, bacon, and mushrooms. But kinda like sushi, I'm honestly down for whatever and open to try new things as long as it's not Papa John's, since that place is basic compared to actual restaurants.

Thin crust with pepperoni, bacon, and black olives. Unfortunately now that Ive gotten older I don't eat as much pepperoni. Gives me wicked fucking indigestion.

The poll won't let me vote for it but I don't need anything other than cheese and sauce on pizza. If those elements aren't right I don't think the pizza can really be good anyway.

Just cheese, meat feast or ham and pineapple mmm-mmm!

And taking a note of all the names that championed m*shrooms and now loading up the trebuchet because m*shrooms are just wrong in any context.

Just a note on the question of what is proper Italian pizza and what isn't. There are many different regional styles of pizza in Italy. What 'Italian' pizza snobs actually mean when they claim there is only one way to make Italian pizza and everything else is wrong, is Neapolitan pizza. It is in fact a very god type of pizza, but not the only authentically Italian one.
Since Neapolitan pizza is the most popular and the most standard pizza in Italy, and since a lot of European pizza restaurants and trattorias (basically small take-away only pizzerias) are run by real Italians who go home to Italy on holiday at least once a year, most Europeans are used to Neapolitan style pizza. But there is nothing wrong with the more conservative American-style pizza styles, either, as they tend to fall into the normal range of regional Italian pizza styles.
